301 Affiliate Links/Redirect

I have read and seen people redirecting affiliate links as they are better for conversions as they don't look as spammy for users and they are better for search engines.

Are they safe to do and which is the best method.

Any enlightenment would be fantastic.

There are so many reasons to use redirects but in my eyes the best one is that it makes updating links incredibly easy. You use joomla as your cms, right? Just use the inbuilt weblinks function - super easy and it even tracks clicks.

Off the top of my head I think it's about 20 bucks and you can install on as many sites as you want. It's well worth it and an instant install on new sites.

I also use a php script that redirects the link. I have thought about using a 301 but the majoeity of people seem to think a re-direct is best??

I use php redirect for more than a year now and it works just fine.
