Thanks CityGuard for bringing this important topic forward.
What is THE SPAMHAUS PROJECT? In simple terms they monitor and trap spammers. Many of us receive spam email everyday, from Viagra, Payday Loans, Gambling to list a few. The Internet has made this possible since its’ introduction way back in the early 70’s before there was a World Wide Web. Back then sending out mass unsolicited email was quite normal and legal. The Internet by design was intended for this use.
The first spammer 1978 he targeted the west coast of the U.S and made a fortune. The funny thing is, he was an established member of the DAPRA project.
But with the advancement of Pc’s and the Internet it soon became something of a nuisance. Many countries around the World have adopted anti spam laws and will prosecute if need be.
The best any affiliate manger can do is to deny the income the spammer seeks, nothing more. They and their IT team lack the technical know how to catch a spammer.
Instead a dual approach is needed. There are few non-profit agencies that actual police the Internet. Spamhaus is probably the more dominate one. They have been doing this work for years under the constant attacks from crackers malicious hackers. Over the years this one agency has ended thousands of high tribal spammers. If you receive tons of spam send them an email.
Here’s some news from spamhaus http://www.spamhaus.org/news.lasso?article=610
The word spam was derived from Monty Python's Flying Circus. The correct spelling for spam is always in lowercase uppercase refers to the food.
