    Age: 43
    Hometown: Athens
    City currently residing in: Athens
    Favorite food: Spaghetti bolognese
One book everyone must read: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Sites: Has more than 100 Web sites, 40 of them are gaming

You posted somewhere that you were born in western Germany. How did you get from there to Athens, and what stops came in between?
My parents were financial Greek immigrants in West Germany in the mid-1960s. They met and married there. We came back to Greece, to Athens, when I was six years old.

For many years youíve been both a student and a professor of photography. Please tell us about that. Also, where can we see some of your photographic work?
I studied photography, video and new technologies in Athens and I was a freelance photographer till 2005. I still teach photography. You can see some of my art photos in www.fotoart.gr and many of my travel photos in www.photographyinfo.gr and in my travel guides.

If someone is interested in becoming a good photographer, what two or three things do they absolutely need to do?
First of all they have to study the work of all the masters of photography. They also have to learn how the light reacts in different conditions, and of course they must never forget to take photos every day and everywhere!

How did you move from photography into online gambling?
My first Web site, www.fotoart.gr, was dedicated to art photography. Self-educated in online marketing, I continued building Web sites about my interests in the arts, like www.cinemainfo.gr or travel guides for Greek islands like www.patmosislandinfo.gr. The www.casinoinfo.gr was my next move as I am very much interested in casino games and I have frequently visited land-based casinos.

Do you gamble online? If so, what do you play?
Yes, I gamble in most of the online casino platforms and I usually play slots.

How long was it before your gambling sites started earning you money?
I started casinoinfo.gr four years ago in spring 2005 and I earned my first CPA payment for one player after two months and the first flat rate advertisment in the next five months.

How did you discover the GPWA? Has membership helped you in any way? Describe the difference for you between being a public member and a private member.
I discovered the GPWA while searching for online courses about specific fields in online gambling marketing. The GPWA helps me in many ways such as learning about the industry from other webmasters. The next step was to be a private member, which has helped me to learn more and to establish better relations with many affiliate programs. It was also very useful that I worked to earn my sites the GPWA seal of approval.

Whatís the hardest thing about operating your sites, and what annoys or distracts you the most when youíre trying to get some work done?

My hardest time is when I donít have a fast and stable Internet connection, which is very common in Greece. However, the most annoying situation is when my Web sites have hosting problems. I canít say anything about Google results because they are always kind with me.

How do you spend your weekends?

I love spending time with my children when they are in my house weekends. Otherwise I work a lot on building new Web sites. During the summer I usually travel on weekends for my travel portalsí needs.

If you had to pick five keys to success as an affiliate, what would they be and why?
Itís difficult to choose only five, but letís say that a successful affiliate must be a hard-working person, with a lot of patience, writing always original content based in his own experience, always updated with a lot of research and reading about his industry and with a good knowlenge of his targeted market.

Youíve stated that for affiliates trying to reach a global audience, it is critical that their sites be carefully, professionally translated. Why is this so important? What is your opinion of ďautomaticĒ translations, such as those offered by Google and Firefox?
I honestly believe that the original content gives to a portal/Web site a unique style. The same unique style also must be evident in the translations. The automatic translations are not for serious webmasters. I am very happy when a native affiliate manager finds one of my global targeting Web sites in search engine results and he believes that I am a native from another country, and I am very sad when I find that the gambling ďslangĒ in some of my non-Greek Web sites is not correct.

Which countries are your principal targets, and do you have any plans to extend your reach beyond those targeted markets?
Right now my main market is the Greek audience from all over the world. I recently started trying my writing and SEO skills on Spanish, Italian and South American audiences, and I have plans for reaching German, Polish and Hungarian audiences.

How does the Greek market for online gambling differ from other markets?
Greek Internet marketing in general is still in its infancy. We grow very slowly in Internet users and that means that we have a potential even though it is a small increase year by year. We need two more things to be a mature market. First of all, we need to end the sportsbook monopoly and secondly, we have to find ways to attract Greeks to play online poker.

We noticed you have some backgammon and rummy sites. How does marketing backgammon and rummy differ from marketing casinos and poker?
I built these Web sites just to be there in the search engine results and to give visitors some unique articles as Greeks are familiar with backgammon games and playing cards but they donít play a lot online yet.

If you could change one thing about the gaming industry, what would it be, and why?
There are a lot of things that need changes. The most important for all is that the gambling industry must be a clearly regulated market globally.

Which players generate more revenue for you Ė poker players or casino players? Explain.
There are more casino players than poker players in Greece, but I would like to think that in the future we will see an increase in online poker players, too.

In 2007 you posted that you were not yet ďa conference junkie.Ē Since then youíve attended four or five conferences. Has participating in these events enhanced your business in any way? Explain.
Yes, I have already been to four CAPs and two CACs, and all were a unique experience for me. I met people who were experts in this market and helped me improve my strategy. I also met most of my affiliate managers. Face to face contact is always better than our online approach. Participating in such conferences is very enlightening with all the seminars and presentations. And letís not forget the great parties, which are a fine opportunity for networking.

What do your friends and family think of your work as an affiliate?
To tell you the truth, most of them donít understand what exactly I am doing for a living.

If you could visit any three places in the world, what would they be, and why?
I have many plans for traveling worldwide and if I have to choose only three I prefer to travel to the most distant destinations like Japan, the Fiji Islands and Argentina.

If you could have one "super power," what would it be? And why?
As difficult as it may sound, I would like to have the power to offer to all the children worldwide a safe home, education and health. These are things that they deserve.

If you were casting a movie (with yourself in the starring role), who would play your romantic interest? And why?
My first and my only choice would be Ava Gardner because I like the old classic American movie style.

And finally, what are three things that nobody knows about you?
As an online marketer with so much exposure in articles on so many Web sites I canít think if there is something that people donít know about me, but I have at least one: I recently started a very successful sports betting portal although Iíve never placed even one sports bet.
