Thumbs up An Affiliate manager Dilemma

    Hey guys

i was thinking of a new way to promote our new site
by teaming up with a one or a few sites and doing a special exclusive deal only for their players. but I'm in dilemma about the deal itself and i would love to get some advice from your experience

at first i was thinking of offering the first 100 players that will deposit a certain amount 100 I-phones, or maybe some sort of a contest that the winner will receive a "paid in full vegas trip with some cash to spend at the casinos" or maybe even a smart car as a prize

i would love to hear what you guys think is more relevant or what would you prefer to receive

For relevance it has to be the Vegas trip. But then again thats been done...a few times.

Cars are good...but what if they dont drive?

Working out promo's is a tough one, gotta get the balance of the right prize for the right cost for the right promo.

    Good luck!

I think it would help to know what your program offers. For example, if it is a poker site then there are different incentives than you would have for a casino site.

    What is your site lol.

    Hi Decker

What is the goal of your promotion? Are you hoping to get as many new players as possible? etc...

Where lies your target Audiance, US or Europe. Maybe not so good to offer a Vegas trip to someone who has been there plenty of times already, then Macau could be a better option, or Monte Carlo

So pick a group of sites that target roughly the same traffic.

    hey Jamie

yea 32Deck is a new site we launched recently and although traffic isn't bad,
i off course want to increase it

    Hey HenrikGr

we cannot work with u.s players thats why i suggested Vegas and not Monte Carlo, but maybe MartynBeacon was right and the Vegas thing was done to death?

Welcome Decker! It's nice to see you here.

I would suggest something more obtainable to more players. Giving away a car only goes to one player and there is room for discouragement. Since you are dealing with decks, some nice custom playing cards could be sent out. Players love gifts in the mail! Along with some good old fashioned cash prizes with a large cash incentive for top prize. I'm not sure how cash prizes work from an affilate manager perspective. I don't see many of those.

    Wishing you much success Decker.

    Hi Decker!

Cash incentives have always worked out great for us, although I'm sure any well- thought gift will always generate a great response from players. Cash prizes will always be well-received as some extra money is always welcome, and then you can decide on the best way to spend it!

Whatever your decision is, I wish you best luck!

I think it is obvious that members like money as prizes, but they also enjoy prizes such as apparel (especially using your logo & website on it).

Anyone that is a gambler never gets tired of Vegas! I have been to Vegas many, many times and I would also love to win another trip there. That never gets old to card players and gamblers.

I don't know about the car. Then they would be responsible for taxes, registration, insurance, gas, etc. I think there are other prizes that players would prefer.

What about something like a plasma TV, Wii Nintendo System, or even a voucher for a cruise.

Lots of things to offer that have not been offered by others or overdone.

    Good luck!

I would have to agree with Mojo here, if you have one large prize people will be discouraged as they will not think they have a chance, but if you offer a pack of cards or something that seems much more obtainable you will see more people taking up the promotion.

In my opinion it is better to give everyone a small something and have them feeling good than having one person exstatic and lots of people disapointed

alternatively cash prizes are a good option because if you pay the cash prize into their account on your site, there is the possibility that they wont cash the money out but gamble it back to the site.

As Martyn said working out promo's are tough good luck

Thank you all for the great advices

about cash prizes the object of my tournament on 32Deck would be
"who ever wins the most money gets the big prize" but the guy from 2nd place and even 20th place still keep the cash they won.

although the dilemma isn't over yet all of your ideas are great and i know on what to focus on more right now and i guess more prizes and more rewards would definitely make the players make a deposit and maybe even stick around after the tournament.

Big prize for first place with smaller prizes for 2nd and 3rd with t-shirts (for example) for places 4 to 20.

You will have a lot of happy people then!

    Default Hi Decker

After reading here some of the affiliate account managers ideas, and knowing what your new site is all about. I would only suggest to offer a celeb game of some of the best in the business and a chance for the winner to play against them. All costs paided for of course. Cheers k

Yesterday, I read a new CAP magazine (August/Sep 200, and I found an interesting article for affiliate managers called "What makes a good affiliate program", it was really interesting even for me. And I would like to quote one the main ideas of these article:

Is your program not getting enough affiliates, or you can't get the ones you want?

You do need to do PR. How can affiliates know about you if you have no web presence? Emails? Not very effective. Be visible, get involved in the community.
I think, forums is a key for your success. Affiliates want to trust you, but how can you trust you if they don't know you. Of course, new affiliate programs say a lot of good words about their programs, but it doesn't work.

For example, I trust Martyn Beacon, he is a good guy... I know him from CAP and GPWA, and he is always visible... oops... I still haven't yet added his brands to my site , but don't worry Martyn, I remember about you, you are in my plans. And I suppose I won't have problems with casino.com which you suggested me to promote, and after that you left this program.

thanks aksana, its probably one of the best advices i received so far
i totally agree, the sending e-mail's part wasn't so effective for me as being involved and posting on the different forums of the community (especially Gpwa) I'll try to do that even more often

    Hi all (D)

if target is US ... economy is bad. Offer cash or to pay all bills for a year or something that's going to take stress off them and they'll appreciate the effort much longer than any trip to Vegas. MHO.

Almost Here! How would you like to be able to get not just one sign up from your player, or even a couple, but every single casino they join from here on? I've a plan that can make that happen and it will likely also tell you every time the player is active within the casino.
