The Allan and Patricia Leonard Fund

It is with great sorrow and heartache that we report the passing of a legendary industry webmaster and good friend, Allan "Captain" Leonard. The past eight years took a tremendous toll on Allan, as he lost of his youngest daughter to a car accident, both of his parents, and a life long friend. The added pressure of his wife, Patty, becoming very ill and the financial downturn in online gaming also took their toll. Finally, it was all just too much.

Allan left behind his oldest daughter and wife. They must now cope with the expenses and mounting medical bills as Patty continues to fight for her life against the disease which ravages her body. That struggle has now been compounded by the extreme emotional grief of losing the love of her life. If we all made even small donations for the family, together we could make a huge difference in someones life when they truly need it most.

The online gambling industry is full of good, generous people, and your support of this genuine and desperate cause is greatly appreciated.

I have made a contribution and urge everyone else here to do the same - no matter how small it is. Every little bit helps and God Forbid any of us should be in the same position as poor Patty one day.
I lost my brother last month - ( He committed suicide - His name was also Alan but with 1 L ) so I have an inkling of how Patty must be feeling, and I don't wish it on my worst enemy.

    Yes, every penny counts.

As soon as I got the link working I gave what I could.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your brother.

Thanks to JTodd, Anthony and the GPWA for getting this going.

I hope some of the programs who worked with Allan, in the good old days, before fall 2006, will try to help out too.

i'm very sorry for your loss topboss

    Hey Anthony,
We have made a contribution as well. Even though I have never met him personally, he was a valued member of our community. His family has our prayers.
    Please pass along our condolences.

I ponied up a little bit. I sure wish I could afford a bit more, but business is tough lately. I'm with Connie - remind us again next month and I'll try and add a bit more.

I think if the tables were turned - I'd hope folks would step up and do the same for me and my family.

I sent something from my retail site account. Like I had mentioned once before, he accepted my offer for a link exchange years ago when no one else would and I never forgot it.

I have very little in my PP account so my contribution was pathetically small but I'll add more soon.

I haven't read the exact details of Allan's death but I've read between the lines. Suicide is something that has affected my life over recent years as a very small number of you will be aware. I only read about Allan's death last night and felt numb for hours afterwards.

If anyone here is ever feeling totally shit and just wants to moan, vent, talk, whatever.... I'm always available on the other end of MSN.

Not to derail the thread but I agree with fictionnet ,I just wish we could have found a way to help Alan deal with his pain.I think we have to walk his shoes to understand what makes a person feel so desperate . My thoughts are with Patty now ,she is very sick and probably Alan was her primary care giver .I have a disability as most of you know and my husband Dean does little things like make me a tea ,put on my socks .These millions of little things that a spouse does for you is what can't be replaced.
I do not know what family situation Patty has but it would be nice to see the operators who Alan worked with all dedicate even a couple hundred each a month for the next year (at least) while Patty is still suffering and waiting for her transplant.Homecare /Personal Support workers is a big expense ,I know because I pay $2600 a month just so I am able to work as I do and have a good quality of life. If anyone wants to donate to Patty but does not have paypal I can do moneybookers swaps AND I will cover the Paypal fees.

Super idea, thanks for setting this up. It was a pleasure to contribute. I know the money is going to a worthy person in desperate need.

I agree with Judy, it would be wonderful if some of the operators could pitch in as well. I am certain Allen brought them plenty of revenues over all the years he was in the industry and those players continue to feed the programs.

Fantastic idea for setting this up.

Renee from Rewards and myself couldn't help but do a joint contribution.

Patty and Melissa have had it hard, they really don't need any more grief - chip in where you can.

Even if you have never met, spoken, or know who the Captain was - know that he was a good man who loved his fairly dearly. His family need all the help they can get right now - its not about the amount, but the participation.

As someone who has gone through something like this, I can say that at the time I wished I had someone I could have spoken to that would just listen and not offer anything but a hug, but I had noone. Sometimes support from somewhere you never thought you'd get it is all it takes, and sometimes all the support in the world is never enough. It's not an easy thing to decide to end your life, and it's an even harder thing to decide not to.

I appreciate you offering your ear mate. Even if you only help one person, it's one person that will be grateful forever.

Its time to give something back

Fortune Affiliates would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of Allan. The misfortune of losing a husband and father is particularly trying on the family, especially in light of the fact that Allan’s wife is also battling with a serious illness, as well as the emotional trauma of losing their youngest daughter in a car accident.
In the spirit of goodwill and empathy, Fortune Affiliates would like to make a donation to the Leonard family to help them through this trial. We have had the privilege of working with Allan and would like to support his family through these tragic circumstances. We would like to appeal to the industry and other affiliate programs to either match or exceed our contribution to this worthy cause, and help the Leonard family recover from this heartbreaking situation. WE have donated $500 to the fund and hope that this can help in some small way.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
