Another Internet gambling bill in the US ...

And this one actually has a decent shot at passing, according to the Industry experts that Buzzy has been talking to ...

    http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d110:9:./temp/~bd2rEI:/bss/d110query.html|

If passed, this bill (sponsored by Nevada Rep. Shelley Berkley) would commission a study on Internet gambling and whether it could be regulated and whether licensed companies would be able to prevent underage gamblers from playing, etc. etc. etc.

Not much to report yet, haven't found full text of the bill, but it is likely very similar to H.R. 5474, which was submitted in the House last year ...

Hi Buzzy... couldnt see that page because I think it is a temporary file when you do a search. However, if you click on the "Search Bill text" link on the homepage and search for gambling there is a H.R.2046 which seems to be what you are talking about...

Sorry about the bad link Wouter. It looks like the way this site is set up, the links may time out after a certain point. The one below will work for a while. As soon as full text of H.R. 2140 (Berkley's bill) becomes available, we'll post a permanent link.

    Thanks.

    Or DOES he? ...

The Buzz will never reveal his identity. It's one of the world's great mysteries that will never be able to solved, like "Was there another shooter in the Kennedy assisination?" or "How was Stonehenge built?" Or perhaps the greatest mystery of all, "Why was Rocky V ever released?"

I personally feel that this is great, another step forward in the right direction. It is a shame though that had the government taken online gambling serious a few years ago maybe this could have been avoided. That being said my own feelings is it should be regulated not just for the players security but our own. I read about poker rooms (not going to name names) that have been here one day and gone the next without paying anyone. Being able to stop underage kids should be a priority. to many kids think that it's all about winning when the reality is the majority of people in my opinon lose.

    Rocky

    Hey Buzzy -

Not sure about Kennedy or Stonehenge - but Rocky 5 was released so that the world could have "Rocky Balboa"...clearly the best sixth movie in any franchise...

It seems that much like the Star Trek movies, only the even numbered Rocky movies are worth watching.... And yes, Buzzy does love a good Cohiba -- it gets the news flowing through the veins...

Since I thought buzzy was a fictional gpwa charactor I had formed an image of (the very cood) Humphrey Bogart. SS for going off topic too.

I wrote a blog about this last week. I think it's wonderful that in addition to this bill, Berkley is also calling for a one-year study of online gaming. There's no doubt they'll find some statistics and information that will support the cause even further.
