    Application for an Australian licence

We're in the process of applying for a Sports betting licence in Australia. As part of our preparations for this, we regret to inform you that our Casino, Poker, Games and Bingo sites will no longer be available from week commencing 22nd August.

Any funds currently in your Casino, Poker, Games and Bingo balances will be transferred to your Sports balance. Our Sports site will continue to work as normal.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Kind regards,
    The bet365 Team
I'm assuming this was just sent to player accounts with an Australian address. How does it affect our affiliate earnings? How will we withdraw our non-sportsbook generated earnings? Thanks.

    Australia

    Hi,

This will not affect your earnings for non-sports products in terms of withdrawals.

However, unfortunately from this date you will not be able to earn off of those Australian players that only play gaming products (nor will bet365), because gaming products will not be available.

However, we will honour all payments for earnings generated before the date the gaming products are switched off for those that reside in Australia. When you withdraw these earnings is up to you, but we aren't going to hold anything back for non gaming products after we switch them off.

If you need any reassurances, phone me on +44(0)7920526142.

    Thanks

Thanks James. Was just a bit concerned as to how I was going to withdraw the non-sportsbook earnings because of it going through a player account where I can't play those products. Sounds like it is under control.

Not getting earnings from Australians is disappointing, although not really a problem for me. Not sure if an announcement will come from the affiliate program side of things, however, others should probably be aware of the change to earnings for Australian players because they might not get the same email I did if it was only sent to people with Australian addresses.

It's the old Aussie bugbear - sports betting is fine (although not in-play if i recall correctly) - but "short duration" online gaming is NOT allowed to be marketed to Australians.

It's something to do with a report on "micro-gaming" (not the company) having been determined as the most addictive - based on online and real-world experiences - and certainly the pokies are very busy in Australian pubs and clubs.

Most sites ignore the Australian legislation as long as they are based offshore - when they decide that they want an Australian sports betting license - then they have to apply these restrictions to Australian addresses.

I think in-play gaming is only allowed ver the phone - they dont stop advertising during sporting events...
