Aussie gov't wants blacklist to be reviewed

The controversial decision to block several thousand Web sites in Australia, including gambling sites like Betfair, is not going away.

The government wants the blacklist to be reviewd by a "panel of eminent Australians or a parliamentary committee as a means of achieving transparency," according to Gambling 911.

Betfair CEO Andrew Twaits expressed outrage over the multi-billion dollar company being blacklisted and admits he was completely unaware.

"We didn't know [about the ban]. We've been licensed to operate in Australia for three years and have never received a complaint or any allegation that Betfair locally or globally is not permitted to be used by Australians."

I have a feeling this will be very hard for them to pass.
A tender for the biggest, fastest internet has just been bid for, and by putting this in place will slow this speed down tremendously, not to mention the existing infrastructure.

I dont think the company who purchased the project would be happy and I have a feeling some money may get thrown around to stop this going through.

    Just my thoughts though.

I agree as well. Tough talk with no legal legs to stand on IMO.

Totally agree, I cannot see how it can be legal. Typical bureaucrat garbage.
