    Default Australian senator calls on Apple to block PokerStars app

    Australian Senator Richard de Natale is calling on Apple to block Australian users from downloading and using a PokerStars app.

    And the dispute may have consequences far beyond the island continent, according to

    PokerStars is definitely treading on shaky grounds in Australia and in the U.S. since the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) has been taking a tough stance as a regulatory body. PokerStars has yet to have its online gaming licensed approved by the NJDGE. If the ACT Gaming and Racing Commission finds PokerStars guilty of violating the Australian Interactive Gambling Act, the UK-based online gambling operator will fit the “bad actor” description to a tee.

    Fair point - Australian laws specifically outlaw "short duration" gambling like poker and casino games.

    You'd think that PokerStars would modify their app, and I'm sure that Apple have simple geographic controls as well.
