Default Avatars wanted!

Hello everyone -

If you didn't know, I'm a reporter with Casino City/GPWA and I am the one who gathers (and writes) the newsletter content on a weekly basis.

I'm just throwing this out there for ALL GPWA members...

Avatars wanted!

For those of you who use the avatar function, thanks, I think it adds to the site. I'm big on personality and I think having one lets us here in the community know a little bit about you.

Three reasons why an avatar helps...

1.) Branding - Think about it. You're here for friends relationships and BUSINESS. I know when I'm reading Doolally, Mojo, BB1web or that big beautiful picture of Michael (yeah i'm sucking up to the boss, sue me!) because their avatar helps brand their name...much like advertising. This helps you stick out among the thousands of GPWA members, which can potential foster relationships and get you noticed.

2.) Personality - Besides the business aspects, this forum can be fun place to communicate and the members who let a little bit of their personality show are among my favorite members to read. I chose the American flag because I'm a bit patriotic and a veteran to boot...but it also shows a little bit of what's important to me and adds some insight into why I believe the things I believe.

3.) Get noticed - When I pick the featured threads I often look for post with people who have avatars. It's not always practical, but when I can, I like the newsletter to have a little flair...and avatar pictures def. help. Also, when Mojo was our most active member last month, her avatar was the featured picture on the newsletter...it's a small bit of advert, but everything helps in these cash-tightening days...why not throw up a free picture of yourself/site?

I know it's a small thing, adding an avatar...but the community is growing and the threads get more interesting everyday and i would love to see our great members add even more personality to what they offer us everyday.

Let me know what you think and if you don't have an avatar...throw one up...

And for discussion...which avatars do you like best?

I am a proud avatar wearer! Mine is a sanddollar beach scene. I have always lived near the ocean so when I saw it I had to have it and personalize it.

I really like all the avatars here. They are all special because they reflect the author. Some of my faves here are Doolally's wiggling toes, ziggys computer guy and chills police chase to name just a few.

Thanks for the post McLane. Another reason is that they are fun!

Hi, I can't seem to figure out how to add an avatar...do you have to have a certain # of posts before you can add one?

I belong to so many different forums, I tend to get real lazy doing this sort of stuff, HOWEVER...as requested...Avatar in place

Default Cityguard's avatar...

Although I believe the avatar of our faithful GPWA guardian comes from a computer game...I'd like to think it comes from the old NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), greatest system ever by the way, but even more important to me, proof that others spent most of their childhood battle for the legendary and beautiful princess Zelda!!

Default Pick my avatar!!

I need your help everyone. I've been struggling with finding the right avatar for me. I started off with Yoda on a hockey mask, which combined two of my loves -- Star Wars and hockey. But that just wasn't working for me. Then I switched over to the chess one (I used to play competitively), but I don't like that one either. So I'm throwing this open to the membership. I need your help in selecting a new avatar. Please post your suggestions and help me choose one. If there are enough ideas generated, I'll open the process up to voting!! Fast facts about me:
  • I love games of all sorts. From chess to Chinese Poker, Badugi, Razz and blackjack, I'll play just about anything.
  • I'm a news junkie.
  • I'm a sports junkie.
  • I graduated from Michigan State University and love that school more than is reasonable. (Go State!)
  • I'm also a new dad and I'm trying to figure out how to indoctrinate my daughter (only 9 months) into all of these things.
  • I'm also a decent photographer who is really jealous of the people who do that for a living.
OK. My avatar fate is now in your hands. Please choose wisely. I have to live with this for a while.

Thanks.

Vin
