I used to use Yahoo MySites, but they show hundreds of tags and things from your own site.
So I now use Backlinkwatch (dotcom) but I can't say I'm sure it is terribly accurate, and takes a while for the links to show.
Anyone know a better one?

The http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ tool from SEOmoz is great.

From my experience backlinwatch seems to provide just as accurate results as the other sites.
I've used backlinkwatch .com about a year ago. They do a decent job, but you can only perform a few searches a day.

I love WebCEO, but I'm not sure if the backlink checker works in their free version or not (I forget). Worth a look though.
I always prefer yahoo site explorer than anything else
According to me backlinkwatch is very fast link checker.I am using this.It find backlinks in yahoo, google ,MSN etc.It alos finds anchor texts of each backlink ,calculate the number of external links each link backs page has.

The reason that back links take so long to show is because of the backlog created by the BILLIONS of index searches per day that are executed. It's like searching the garbage dump for a penny.
My back-links take about 2-3 weeks to show up on Google but when they do they show up 100-200 at a time.
The back-link programs out there are no better and they only rely on the search engines for their data.
I would recommend a Google webmaster account (free) and spend your money elsewhere. (I could use $20 right now)![]()

I use Open Site Explorer.
If you don't have a Pro account a seoMoz (which you need to get full results with at www.opensiteexplorer.org) then I can highly recommend linkdiagnosis.com. You can open account for free an store all your reports or you can download them in CVS. Apart from link info this tool also provide info about PR and the amount of outgoing links on the site.
I don't know exactly why but the back-link checkers I have used vary so widely in their results I don't trust any of them. I get 170 from Yahoo on one of them and 3 on another, just minutes apart. I think its all smoke and mirrors
I do backlinks check on my site. For me the best backlinks checker is SeOpen toolbar of Mozilla cause its gives accurate backlinks check compare to other backlinks checker programs
