The best casinos for UK players?

    Hi ladies & gentlemen,

I need your advice on very simple question; What are the best casinos/affiliate programs for UK players?

Building up site targeting UK market and would appreciate your thoughts on the best brands to promote for UK players. Trying to avoid inventing a wheel here

    Thanks for input, much appreciated.

I'm not going to be very specific here, but UK punters trust the big brand names. You need to remember that online gambling is 100% legal over here and so people are exposed to advertising on the TV, as sponsors for football clubs, television programmes, on the Underground, billboards, every where.

That means that brand awareness is very important, so the casinos offered by the big bookmakers : Bet365, Ladbrokes, Stan James, Will Hill, etc. have a certain amount of traction.

Also other brand names that have casino offerings - I'm thinking Virgin, 888, Sky - do well.

In terms of software - WagerWorks, Microgaming and Playtech are the providers to push. RTG and Rival just don't do it for UK players for whatever reason.

    I hope this helps.

For the UK market you're spoiled for choice. Big list of UK 'household names'. Add to tryme's list:

    betfair, bluesqare, victor chandler, betfred,

Then a bunch of others whose involvement in mainstream football advertising would bring strong brand recognition and all licensed in white list jurisdictions:

    bwin, Unibet, Expekt, PartyGaming etc

the other great thing about these companies is that from an affiliate point of view they are more stable long term propositions, and less likely to go under like some of the smaller private companies that try to make it

    hope this helps

You might want to consider a brand that has multiple products on offer in addition to a really good casino.

If some of your players lose interest they'll be other big-branded and well marketed options that might tempt them.

Having decent cross-selling opportunities can seriously improve your revenues.

    Right - absolutely right!

The 3 most important things in my opinion:

    • Work with an established brand (as long as you can live with the Ts&Cs)
    • Work with an established brand that has all the products - you will be surprised from where the money will be coming in all of a sudden
    • Try to negotiate some exclusive campaign/bonus with them otherwise you will be one of a thousand affiliates who had a similar/same idea

I'd be inclined to echo the sentiments of previous posters, It's a lot about brand awareness trust and familiarity for the UK market.

Advertising on TV and Radio and at sport tend to put the traditional 'bookmaker' brands to the forefront of peoples minds so somewhere more well known for that side but offering a good casino product would probable be your best bet (pun intended)

    Hope this helps

Thanks for your input, to all of you.

I agree cross selling is the best and that is what I do... just wanted to get your opinion - and it matches mine so I'm on the right track

Good luck with it - you've already been asking lots of the right questions so your instincts would appear to be right.

Just stick to the task and always look for ways to tweak and optimise everything; whether it's content, positioning, text - whatever.

Often it's the small things that can make the biggest difference

Just to play Devil's advocate, isn't there something to be said for trying to go for a bit more of a niche offering, seeing as it's no simple task to rank well for Virgin Casino Bonus Codes or the like?

I read a blog post by Jeremy from PAL.com discussing the merits of promoting smaller poker sites which I think is a valid point to be made for any highly competitive niche in the affiliate industry.

You might have an easier time negotiating for the BEST bonus on the market with a mid-sized brand dying for exposure than with a mega brand. If casino clients shop anything like I do, they are going to check out three or four bonus code sites looking for the best code.

    Louis,

I kinda agree with what you're saying and personally, I have no problem with promoting 'niche' sites. However, you need to get a sense of what your visitors are looking for before you start messing around with casino choices. So, as with Buyonaut - who was asking about good converting UK casinos - it makes good sense to push known brands and monitor what is going on in terms of outgoing clicks and conversions.

Once you know what your visitors are looking for and once you establish some level of credibility, then you can start pushing the smaller casinos and taking advantage of the additional offers they will give you.

Be carefull with Victor Chandler if you do not know your customers. One of my referals lost considerable sums of money and they refuse to pay me my commission which runs into 1000s of pounds. They simply closed my account and refused to pay on the excuse of irregular betting paterns because of 1 of my referals

well, i thought one of the many good reasons why we use this and other reputable forums is to get our point across and warn others. The most recent email from Victor Chandler was to read their terms and conditions (see quote at end of most recent email ....May I suggest you take some time to read the full Terms and Conditions in detail and point you to terms 2.3, 2.13 and 2.15).

    UK brands

The UK market is full of opportunities, there is literally something for everyone in this area.

Most of the big brand name casino's would work well because they have the brand power, but lets not forget the longtail audience who perhaps would not identify with these big operator sites. I think it's prudent that affilaties should offer a variety to their audience and in the UK there is just so much choice!

I know I like a bit of exclusivity when I'm shopping around, and who's to say a really big corporate operator would look after me where I'm one of 1000's of new players signing up - versus a smaller casino brand, who values long term custom and promotes retention as part of thier core business model.

    Food for thought...
