    Default Best Keyword Research Tools

Anyone know of a good place to do some keyword research? I am looking to find out the search volume of certain keywords and keyword phrases.

In the past I have always just logged into Google AdWords and acted like I was going to create a campaign and see what it returned as the search volume. It works I think but its a tough way to find out something that seems like it shoudl be pretty easy to find.

I know I can also look in GWT to see how many impressions were returned for certain keywords and keyword phases but only if that keyword has been searched for in that website.

So if anyone knows of a good free (preferable) or even paid service where this info is pretty easy to find please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Travis

It was, but without more exactly search volume not really helpful.
It is still good to find some longtails if you search via URL not keyword.

    @Travis Maybe have a look at https://app.kwfinder.com

You can still get the data through adwords, but you need to have an "active" adwords account (ie: be spending money on it). Not sure how much is needed to be considered active though.

Even still the volume is usually very erroneous.. it's sometimes just as quick to trial and test

Google Keyword Planner is a must, I also use sometimes keywordtool.io ubersuggest and answerthepublic.com That's probably all you need to check. All of these tools are free to use (keyword tool and ubersuggest have also premium version)

So did anyone find out what do you have to do in order to see the true search volume in Google Keyword Tool?

You need an active account. We ran a campaign for something in November and had full access (ie: not just terms related to the account), lasted for about a month after the campaign ended.

No idea how much you need to spend though / if there's a minimum.

    Ahrefs. But it's pricey.
You can maybe rent a shared account on Fiverr. I saw people there selling 14 day access for $5. Don't know how legit those offers are.

SearchMetrics is another tool to throw in the mix, but don't spend too much money on these tools. What google provides should be good enough.

At the moment I'm finding SEMRush and Ahrefs considerably handy for keyword research, you often have to take the volumes with a pinch of salt.

Moz have launched a new keyword tool which is pretty good too but if you've the budget for one KWR tool then go with SEMrush.

As some people have mentioned you can get "group" licenses on fiverr for a couple of weeks - also you can get 14 or 30 day free trials of these tools so test them out.

The google keyword planner can only be accessed if you have an Adwords account.

    Try these:
    keywordtool.io
    keyword shitter
    serps.com

and many more. Simply do a keyword search.

My opinion, Google keyword, SPyfu and Wordtracker are the best keyword research tool. I also used these tools.

I'm mostly using SEMrush and Google Keyword Planner, even keywordtool.io is a good option.
