Codename Cap member I hardly believe your story. How would you like if someone else did this to your site? Please take them all down pretty darn sneaky and immoral way of conducting business.

I would wager this little slip up happened more than once. I will personally ask Lou to have you banished. Please Friday won't cut it no reason you can't have it done sooner. One full day should be long enough, just 404 all your domains, fix and put up again. Rather big file waiting to be sent off. Plus I am very stubborn I will chase until all issues are resolved. Do the right thing!

Thanks bb just can't stomach these creeps.

The sportsbettingindex.net site listed above is associated with the public member Codename. The member directory listing (linked to from nickname) provides some information about this person including a list of other sites that Codename either owns or works on. This person has previously applied for private membership and the application was declined.

Thank goodness it was declined. Codename has 10 or more domains worth looking into. I have funny feeling this person has been causing all of straight webmasters a lot a grieve.

codename should know better a freakin scam artist.

Excuse my wording but I get a little disturbed over this BS.

All for now, I am exhausted. Check back in 24 hours otherwise the files get sent out.

OK, can someone recap what happened here? I presume there was some of the same discussion at CAP (I'm not a member there - no time for another forum). Has the guy been contacted and agree to take the content down?

Dominique,

I believe this issue will be resolved no latter than 6am EST on Monday July 23, 2007. Received email Sunday 22/07/07 time 1:51 A.M EST.
As follows:

Quote:
hi,
We will remedy the situation by disabling the framing of sites by 6am EST on Monday July 23, 2007.
---
Request to cease and desist all operational website hijacks.

Please do yourself a favour and stop. I am willing to give 24 hours after that I will proceed with further action.

The pages would have eventually been indexed. Afterwards possible the aff tags could be switched over. How this is done is quite simple. In the past I have made posts concerning this sort of practice; once on CAP where some members called it non-sense and dismissed it and some just didn't know what the heck it was, then again here http://www.gpwa.org/forum/tell-me-yo...ts-170601.html

In any case the situation is resolved.

BTW:

Affects:

traffic
PR
possible duplicate content penalty
earnings
serp depression

How?

Well don't really want to elaborate but basically off the shelf JavaScript frame script.

Bigfish I think yours will be taken care of as well.

Codename made the following public post:

Quote:
hi gang,

These are my sites.

The framed pages are off search results which when clicked open on a frameset page. I did not think it was a hijack when I had it implemented, and when contacted we usually respond within 48 hrs to disable the frame.

Moving forward, I will disable framing. expect this to be completed by Friday next week.

Sorry for the hassle. While I don't think I am an EVIL affiliate - you be the judge of that.

He has also been in PMs with me.

I have filed complaints with google and all his many server companies, and I have hired a lawyer who is eager to file suit.

I want to know exactly what codename is all doing. The fact is that G&C is indexed in google under his domains. PR and Serps have plummeted as a result.

What the consequences of this are for codename is partially up to him. We could all benefit from complete forthrightness on his part so that we are better informed in the future.

One thing is for sure, this mess is going to get cleaned up one way or another.

Thanks for helping with this, Greek.

I personally do not believe codename did not know what “it” was doing. To implement this script one would think he would know what it does?

Maybe rather posting my info, which might give some people some nasty thoughts. I have two links that merely offer a partial explanation.

http://www.loriswebs.com/hijacking_web_pages.html#Frames

http://budugllydesign.com/frame9806/f-java.htm

In any case I believe codename will fix the situation. Thanks for letting us all know Dominique.

This practice is illegal as well.

Regards

Thanks, Greek!

BTW, if you are also affected and need a quick fix, Gamesandcasino's own Gaputernut posted this fix, which works:

Quote:
I used

<script type="text/javascript">
if(top!= self) top.location.href = self.location.href
</script>

i put it right after the <head>

looks like this....

<html>
<head>
<title>blah blah</title>
<meta name="description" content="blah blah">
<meta name="keywords" content="blah blah">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;">
<script type="text/javascript">
if(top!= self) top.location.href = self.location.href
</script>

</head>
<body>

this will make your page come up completely with your url, not theirs.

This will help your sites asap I understand.

I am not content to protect myself against this incidence though, this is a community issue, it can happen to anyone, anytime and needs to be exposed.
