    Default Bonus Removal This Weekend...

I get the situation in the UK is sensitive right now but it's pretty galling to expect affiliates to remove all references to the Bet365 opening bonus offer over the weekend and then come Monday, when their new offer goes live, go back through the entire network and re add the new information.

Changes in bonuses happen and I usually don't complain, I just edit in the new bonus info and away we go, but to do it like this just seems like no consideration has been given to affiliates whatsoever.

I feel like affiliates could use a little more explanation of what's going on?!

If you haven't received the email yet here it is:

    Afternoon

I hope you’re well. Response is required, please read fully.

We have an important update to make you aware of.

bet365’s Sports UK Opening Account Offer will be changing next week (subject to internal testing). This will be followed by offer changes in further territories.

Details of the new opening account offer will be communicated in due course, however, in preparation for these changes and to ensure compliance, our hosted banners will be changing over automatically to a generic (no offer banner) at 12pm this Friday.

To coincide with this, we’re requesting that all of your bet365 UK Opening Account Offer promotion is removed from all of your marketing channels by 12pm Friday (29th Sept). This includes, but is not restricted to, any banners you have in use that are not hosted by bet365, any bet365-themed backgrounds or wallpapers, any content you have written about the bet365 UK Opening Account Offer, or any references to the offer on social media.

If you are using our current bet365 UK Opening Account offer mobile banners then please let me know so that I can provide you with temporary generic (no offers) banners to replace these.

It goes without saying in the current climate of regulation and compliance, that we need full cooperation from all affiliates on this matter.

Once all specific UK Opening Account Offer promotion has been removed by Friday at 12pm, there will be a 72 hour period where no opening account offer will be shown to a customer via the affiliate channel.

Our anticipated go-live for the new offering in the UK will be circa 12pm GMT Monday (2nd).

Prior to us changing over to the new offering, there will be a small period of ‘no offers’ whereby any player registering during this window will not be formally entitled to either opening account offer. This is the key point compliance wise, where it could be misleading for a customer clicking on any opening account offer promotion, only not to receive it.

That’s why it’s imperative we have a 72 hour period of no offers via the affiliate channel, to avoid confusion and remain within regulatory guidelines.

There are two things we now require:

    1. If you can initially acknowledge receipt of this email.
    2. Secondly, can you send a further email once all UK Opening Account Offer promotion has been removed – prior to 12pm Friday.

We’ll have no option but to suspend and 0% those affiliates we do not hear from or who haven’t taken necessary removal steps prior to 12pm Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Bet365

When did you get this? Don't tell me this is another tactic to close an affiliates account on a whim.

I have not received anything so how the f*ck am I supposed to send acknowledgement of their email

Check your spam box because you likely did receive it.

I have no problem with this but I'm wondering how detailed we have to be - pulling all the CTA's is easy enough, but do I have to go through 1,000 blog posts and see if we ever referenced it anywhere within text as well?

That's the main issue really. From the tone of the email it sounds like it could be zero tolerance.

No nothing there, I did contact Gareth and he responded quickly saying that they were being sent out in batches.
Mine is on its way this afternoon.

Luckily it is a new site so just need to change a few bonus tables and main offers page so no biggy for me. But I do get the impression they will be checking the site throughout.

I've been back and forth with them today.... they did state this regarding to MJM's post:

Previous articles for past events are fine to be left as they are, its anything moving forwards and any static pages such as homepages, reviews, ‘new account offers’ and similar that need changing. You’ll need to ensure any pinned tweets don’t contain this as well as your bio and similar on Facebook.

To be fair this is a very good way of checking if affiliates are compliant. The problem 365 have is they have never changed their sports offer and so there must be a ton of old sites and content out there that doesn't comply. This is a way for them to very quickly identify those who updates and takes this notice seriously and those that don't.

So all previous tweets promoting are okay to leave as they are? It will take forever to go through thousands of tweets and posts and remove everything.

yeah, I can't remember bet365 ever offering anything apart from the £200 bonus. I can't imagine the revised offer will be more competitive.

I made all the necessary amendments and then was told it only relates to SportsBook and not Casino.

Guess I'll be putting everything back over the next few days!

I did exactly the same! Alex has emailed me back and say it just relates to the Sports. I will add the info for bingo back later!

As I understand it, yes. Probably best to check with your AM though.

So affiliates receive an email to which they MUST respond within days as well as stop any and all other Life Changing experiences they might be involved in, in order to drop everything and change Bet365 promotions on their websites even if the affiliate has to work around the clock and give up eating and sleeping or their accounts will be closed??

Why is it that when affiliates need help and IMMEDIATE responses that Bet365 representatives do not drop what THEY are doing and give up their sleep or outside of business activities to take care of the affiliate's needs IMMEDIATELY?

Bet365 should have managed this through an image change on their own site - so the code automatically picks up a new image that does not promote an opening offer. To expect mass change in four days is a big ask - and in some cases won't be managed.

Of course the affiliate website text needs to change, and this has always been an issue with affiliate websites and blogs that list hundreds of programs - many of which stay static for years and are way out-of-date.

    SCOPE OF CHANGE :
Having exchanged emails with my AM three times I can confirm that the scope of the change required is :
UK and Ireland sports betting bonuses only - advertising banners and associated text - in main pages and reviews.

Bet365 did not expect the changes to be retro-active through any time-dated blog posts. Only main site pages and reviews that could reasonably be interpreted as being up to date information. Casino, Poker and Bingo are unchanged and can continue as normal.

Other sports betting territories are unchanged (but will be changed sometime soon in the future - probably in the same half-arsed way)

As it stands I would expect up to 70% of the set-and-forget sites will be in breach of bet365s request on Friday night. Indeed if they had sent this out next month then I would also be in breach as I will be on holiday - without a mechanism to make wholesale changes to the advertising layout.

    LOOKING AHEAD :
I get the feeling that in future UK facing affiliates will simply not promote the opening offers specifically, letting the image spell it out. Certainly that's what we do these days in our advertising blurb ... simply saying something like "Players from XCOUNTRYX can get the following opening offer" and then displaying the image.

We give more details in the review, but that's the only place where it is spelled out now. Making swift changes easier.

Of course with image blockers et.al these days that's pretty weak, but the way the advertising and marketing act is being enforced in the UK, that seems to be the way it's all heading. Less specific.

I exchanged quite a lot of emails, to the point where I almost got irritated, because there was always that one link/banner/text. I wasn't even allowed to have something in the lines of "Sign up Bonus: none". On my question, whether I have to go through 2100 pages, I did not get an answer.

I swear if it wasn't bet365, I would have dropped the brand and just moved on.

This is all that I have seen offered too. I hope that they can change it in the near future and offer more, too. I also hope that they will use the short codes instead.

Shortcodes are the answer here imo.

Given that this message has started with offer changes THIS WEEKEND on Sept 29th, id say your prayers have been answered. Also it's unethical to put up ideas someone else posted, 4 minutes before you edited your post and added it in, as yours.
