Breaking News: Barney Frank will retire

In a developing story, Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank, one of the biggest advocates of regulated online gaming in Congress, will announce today that he will not seek reelection in 2012. He is expected to hold a news conference today to discuss the announcement.

My initial thought was this is bad news for us but hopefully he will continue to fight for regulation!

The article said he is still going to be involved in policy he is concerned about, not sure if that includes us...

At his news conference, Frank said he intends to remain active on issues he is concerned about, pledging to defend the year-old Dodd-Frank financial regulatory bill that many Republicans want to repeal. "I think I will find my motives less impugned and I will be able to talk more about the merits" once he is no longer a member of Congress, he said.

This spells "lobbyist" to me.....and any payments he receives to help "further the cause" of whoever is paying will not be under the same scrutiny.

Who knows, maybe he will be more effective in a different capacity....

He's 71. I think that he's had enough of politics. Retirement not lobbying.
Reading the comments he seems to think that the political process is gridlocked - and he cannot be bothered.
