A.C. Milan to cut ties with bwin

bwin has a strong presence in the European soccer (football) market as they have sponsorships with some of the top clubs in the world, including Real Madrid and A.C. Milan. Well, in the case of the latter, that sponsorship won't be lasting for much longer.

According to Gaming Intelligence, A.C. Milan will be ending its sponsorship with bwin at the end of the year after reaching a four-year agreement with Dubai’s Emirates airline in a deal worth at least €60 million.

    From Gaming Intelligence:

bwin has been the main sponsor of AC Milan, one of the most famous football clubs in world football, since signing a lucrative four-year deal in 2006 which allowed the company to advertise around the club’s San Siro stadium, as well as on the team’s shirts.

The loss of its landmark sponsorship of AC Milan will be a blow to bwin’s presence in the emerging Italian online gaming market, which will be boosted this year by the introduction of online casino as well as bingo following strong growth in online poker last year.

Yes, Dubai (still) has money to cover that. As a matter of fact few sheiks here are stakeholders of AC Milan and this comes like no surprise. Milan is regular guest on Dubai/Abu Dhabi Cup for years now and this is logical stream of events. Arabs are crazy about football and will spend all the money they got on it if they can, but not in vain since they know mathematics very well. UK, Italy and Spanish clubs are their main targets, with very low success on the latest one. If any of the major club comes to the serious crisis, Emirates (UAE) are here to give helping (over-taking) hand.

If opportunity ever knocks at my door I'm almost certain to be out.

Opportunity would probably leave a card saying...

"We tried to deliver you your fabulous new life but you were not in. We left it with a neighbour with is now enjoying your fabulous new life"

Bwin have done well sponsoring AC Milan and Real Madrid - they have a solid brand and I'm sure will advertise on another big club's shirt next season

A strong brand is all bwin has... they should invest in their customer service and their affiliate platform, because both are quite bad...
