The Financial Times conducted an interview with Caesars CEO Gary Loveman about his company's struggles in a struggling economy and in a struggling gambling market. Talk inevitably shifted towards legalization and regulation of online poker in the United States. Loveman, a supporter of regulated online poker on the federal level, says there is "a will" in Congress to overturn the UIGEA and allow U.S. companies to offer online poker.
From the Financial Times:
He said: “I can’t think of another example where there is something an American can buy that no American entity can provide”.
Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, and Barney Frank, the former chairman of the House Financial Services committee, are among congressional leaders known to back a change in the law.
Mr Loveman insisted it was in the interests of the US government to approve a new regulatory framework.
