Hi All,

Thank you for your feedback regarding our stats and ways for us to improve.

For the record, when we have received emails of this nature we never simply disregard them.

We all know that pretty much anything IT related *could* potentially have something wrong with it. Although we do everything we can to ensure we're chugging along bug free, we are of the mentality: 'hey, let's check it out and see what's up'.

Initially the questions were are we tracking properly?, am I getting credit for my activity? that sort of thing... and the answer was Yes (after investigating and testing to double check), all activity was being tracked and your credit was allocated as expected. Nobody is getting ripped off here, but we agree that the clicks and downloads numbers are inflated. Obviously, of no benefit to us.

The issue of spiders/bots inflating both the clicks and downloads was raised to us and is also something we are considering. I don't feel that we have brushed this issue off as I have spoke with many affiliates trying to source out exact details on the issue.

I want to have an explanation as much as you guys do. We are putting some extra resources into getting to the bottom of this and will let you guys know when we do - should be soon.

Thanks,
Ryan

BTW-- I have the same problem with Refer Spot stats. Hmmm, same party, same stats problem. I wonder where they were when Kennedy was assassinated.
Hi Richard,

I did email the idea to my team as I think it's a good idea. As usual there are many factors regarding decisions and how we allocate our development resources. It is in the queue though! Thanks for your idea

Default Hi Ryan,

One thing you could do as a test is run any broken link checker program over a website that contains your links (like Xenu Link Sleuth or something). Whenever I do this, I then go and check my CR stats just for fun to see how much affect the spidering activity generated by the link-checker program had on your stats. You will see from my stats that yesterday I 'sent' 23 visitors and had 10-15 downloads. In reality, since my site is new, its rare for me to send more than 10 real visitors to anywhere in a given day.

Hope this helps.
