Gambling911 is reporting that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is taking part in closed door meeting with politicians to discuss a measure that would legalize online poker in the state. Sen. Raymond Lesniak, a longtime proponent of regulated online poker, is also a part of the meetings.

From Gambling911:

The objective, Gambling911.com has learned exclusively, is to get something passed through the state House and Senate without the need for a voter referendum.

Christie recently signed a bill that would legalize sports betting in the state following a November voter referendum that was met with more than 65 percent approval. Lesniak, who co-authored the bill, is now seeking to have a federal ban on sports betting in all but a handful of US states overturned.
