Competing with a BlackHat practitioner competitor.

Sorry, no wicked tips can be found here, not unless someone will generously give one. While reading stuffs regarding advanced SEO techniques, a thought about black hat just bubbles in my mind. Knowing that it really works for some, it leads me to asking how to really go about competing with blackhat competition when you know you can't be doing the same thing because you are wary about the negative things that could possibly happen that's directly pointed to your only reputation.

So, lemme ask, how do you compete with black hat?

Usually Mr Google discovers the BH sites and penalize them pretty quick.

If I remember correct there was a site ranking no1 for online casino that used BH a couple of months ago, now it's gone.

Just sit out the storm and the BH competitior will be gone.

Or.. Use BH and be happy for a week or a month before you get sandboxed and deindexed.

I know the site yourt talking about that was ranking #1 for online casino and in the top 3 for some other very good terms. But the thing is the guy who had this site probably bought this site little money and for the sole purpose to use these blackhat techniques rank good for a few months and make 10, 20 or 50 times what his investment was. This is a good strategy especially if using rev share think of the players he picked up during those couple of months.

not true - if you look on page 1 of google for "rakeback" you will see 3 100% blackhat sites. they have been there for months.

The only probable way to get rid is to email mr cutts imo.

Ok, maybe if you manage to do it in a not too obvious way you will slide through the net.

But, you got to agree that most of the BH sites do get removed pretty quick.

It's not worth the risk going black hat with an established site imo.

Thank you for responding to the thread guys!

@Louis I stumbled at bluehatseo.com last year and guy presents interesting tricks. I have not, even for a single chance, applied the tricks presented though. Have you used any? Have any success?

@hakank google will penalize blackhat practices surely, but I think it takes a year for them to discover a site is using blackhat, not unless someone reported a site is using blackhat. But, will google really believe when someone tell them a site is using blackhat?

@stocks yeah, these guys might be flipping things around to have their investment doubled or tripled in a very short period of time. But the thing is, you are affected every time they achieve want they want, the ranking. And you lose traffic.

@pauljones nice point. Would that also mean that google detects blackhat by algorithm? Thus, if the blackhat practice is complicated enough to pass the set conditions for a blackhat flag, the site will remain on top for good? So, it leads to telling the head of the web spam team. But, do they listen? Will they wait for a number of complains before taking any action?

    What goes around comes aroud

When a true black hat starts operating, there is really nothing you can do about it. I think that the search engine technology is such today that a true stinker will be pushed aside in a relatively short amount of time.

I guess the one thing you must address is how do you define black hat and what is white hat.

I was a drag racer for 40 years and car builders like myself called it the gray zone. Not really illegal but not exactly rule book perfect. Yes we all did it to stay ahead of each other. The guys that crossed the line big time always got caught and suffered the worst so we didn't worry about them.

Tune your site up right to the gray zone and I think you will be alright.

You're right, Mr Big G penalize the site who use the black hat technique. How about the duplicate content? When I was experiment about duplicate content, I stole the article content from other site and I re-post it with giving the credits to owner. Yes, the ranking goes to number 1 in Search Engine but the algorithm of bot is has no program for detecting duplicate content it means the website has not penalized yet but unless the author reported to Mr Big G about someone stole his article content.
