    Question Conversions

Hi, I've recently started out optimising my website as much as possible and wanted to know if anyone has done any testing in regards to landing pages. When I redirect people to the casino site which page do you think will convert better:

    • Registration page
    • Offers page
    • Homepage

    Thanks in advance!

in our case the "landingpages" with the offer we are communicating on the website are converting the best.
Visitors see something they have seen before, that makes them sure they have landed on the right spot.

Personally I "usually" send visitors to the home pages, but might consider other landing pages if they were designed better.

I biggest issue I have seen with "landing pages" is that they often have a "download now" - "join now" or leave the site kind of choice.

Often the pages are designed to not allow the visitor to click through to the home page, nor to the terms page or bonus terms or promotions pages or anywhere else on the site. So if the visitor is not quite sold, but possibly close, the page does NOT give them an option to read more (which might close the sale) but most certainly if they leave the site the sale is certainly lost.

The other issues I have seen are often the bonus presented on the landing pages sometimes will not match the theme of the offer/landing page itself.

If you have blackjack content, presenting blackjack games and send a visitor to a blackjack landing page, why does the casino present the slots only bonus?

Now this is not always the case, but it happens frequently.

Unless the casino has an amazing promotional offer with its own landing page, I will usually send visitors to the casino's home page and let them navigate from there.

We use a lot of Landing Pages especially when there is a new game etc launched as its easier to portray what that game is about when you can use Large Graphics and create a nice feature type page However i will say that the Homepages by Far is the best place to send a player when you are trying to convert the homepage has the " Legitimacy " that some landing pages may not portray like seals of approval licensee details etc so yes Homepage best way i think

For me this all depends on what you've already told the user. What do they know, is there more they need to know before they sign up etc.

If you've sold the brand effectively it's possible to send the visitor direct to the signup form, if you haven't then you will probably find that a landing page with the specific offer or game on work the best.

Failing that, the home page should generally do the job.

    I agree Martyn,

And I know some affiliates that like using the signup form, or a download page, or a game specific page etc.

My issue with those have always been, if for whatever reason the visitor is not sold, they need to be able to find prominent links to other parts of the site to get any remaining questions answered so the sale is not lost.

I will say that some groups have better landing pages than others.

This also brings up the point of testing, testing and more testing.

That depends from what the user is expecting. It's not easy to know what users are expecting. Also, people reading the same page may have different expectations in some cases. In most cased the general page will be ok.

In other cases the user may expect something specific, then send them to there. In my opinion, there must be a match between the information that is given and the things on the website an user is redirect to. I don't think it works very well to 'promise' some free bonuses while the user has to make a deposit. Or to promise 200 spins, while the user is getting "just" 50.

I always go for the homepage if I do not have a personalized landing page. You can always set up two links as well, one to the homepage and one to another page and see which one converts better. I usually do that if I am just starting to promote a casino to see which works best. Its amazing how sending to different pages can make a pretty big difference.

I usually opt for home page, however sometimes, I may go for a landing page if it looks good, and clearly offers a special bonus we've promoted specifically on the site/ page. But, definitely more to home page than a landing page.

Also, sometimes I worry that after some time, landing pages could expire / go wrong etc etc (and I didn't see in time) suppose I just feel better with the homepage

    That's a GREAT point agsgroup.

In my opinion, no way no how should a page ever expire to where it returns a 404 for a visitor.

Ok we all understand possible reasons a page needs removed, when a bonus ends, changes, offer ends, special offer for a scheduled event ends, a promo for a game that has already taken place, etc etc etc (so many reasons on this list)(I've even heard the excuse, the law required we remove the page)

But that landing page should NEVER return a 404 and should always be redirected to the home page (preserving the affiliate tag) if it is ever removed.

Any group that can not do that should never create landing pages, and it may be one of the reasons why many of us are apprehensive to using special landing pages.

I've seen this happen too many times, that's why I usually go for the homepage. Maybe a landing page might perform better, but I don't want to rely on the aff program that the landing page will stay online and I also don't want to regularly check if the landing page is still online.

    Great idea Michael!

IMHO the landing pages with the offers are the best..

Yes it has happened once or twice, so I prefer to eliminate possible issues. Having said that, it does not stop me from using them, as they do have their uses, just I check back on regular occasions / measure performance when I do.. but..I definitely use them far less than homepage links.

Do you think, also, that using homepage links, is more of a natural 'journey' for player? Or do you think it's vital to have promotion info stated obviously in front of their eyes? (if you get what I mean? ) would like to hear peoples opinions on this, from a customer POV.

For me a landing page can be a good convertor if its created well and is Mobile optimized etc .. Especially if for example its when a new game is launched and your giving a free spins amount away for players to use on a specific game and test it a lander can be a better way for a player to experience what the feel of that game is etc and it could confuse a person if you send them to the homepage and say give them a code that they need to redeem after they opened there account and when they hit the homepage they see totally different offers and information.

So a case by case basis i still feel these do well but not for all offers ..

Homepage as Universal says a player can look around get a better feel of the casino get some answers and then decide to play or not as there's a lot more information available off a homepage than there is on a lander in most cases.

Trial and error and test test test .. ( am i sounding a little like Melania Trump )

Some great feedback from you guys thanks. Would be interested to hear if anyone has done a split test to actually put some cold hard data to this. Obviously it will be dependent on the quality of the landing page and other factors. From speaking to a few affiliate managers working with the big players in the industry they seem to claim that the landing pages convert better in general.

Landing pages for offers look great the majority of the time, but I agree with Rick there needs to be a clearer exit link to the homepage so they can see what the site is all about instead of blindly signing up. Rarely do I link to the registration page as it is generally boring and has minimal info.

    Yep,

The essence of a landing page that does not have clear links to the rest of the site says one thing,

Signup NOW or go pick a different casino

I don't really understand the mentality of setting up a landing page that doesn't link to the rest of the site.
