Default Custom "thank you" page before redirecting

    Hello everyone,
I've been searching for a script or plugin for WordPress that shows a custom page saying something like "Thank you for visiting us, enjoy playing at [random casino] when an affiliate link is being clicked on, before redirecting to the casino.

I can't seem to find any or I just don't know what to search for.

    Help is very appreciated.
    Thanks!

It doesn't need to be a plugin or anything related with Wordpress, just make a plain file for the purpose like this:

Why would you want to add another opportunity for the visitor to close the browser, click away or delay the sign up? What is the benefit?

A central location to log clicks and direct to correct destination url (easy to control and change in 1 spot rather than 1000 places).

We have a number of threads available here that show a lot of different methods to cloak your links, using a page located in a robots.txt restricted folder. Methods include html pages or php pages, either one could have the added slight delay that echos a thank you or other message.

I like Gooner's idea of also adding an additional method to track those outgoing clicks, although I have never written anything to do that.

I found a few of the discussions we have had in recent months, you might get some ideas for some of these discussions. A few of the discussions examine some issues that some outgoing link methods have trouble with various adblockers.

I created a script on my old mega moolah site
for example it would be play/CasinoName
which then in the .htaccess file would point to track.php?casino=CasinoName
This would then track the time & date, visitor IP, country & the destination casino and insert into a database table
Then redirect to the destination casino

more than happy to share the script and database table structure if anyone wants it

In fact I'll create a thread containing all the code and database code today, if Rick or any other admin wants to make it a sticky
Will get it done once I've finished a few bits and bobs

I prefer plain html or php pages instead of using the htaccess, i have found it is a little faster and the htaccess does not need to grow.

If the link you use already goes to another page, why then also use htaccess when the redirect can just exist in the page you have already linked to?

I agree rick however for the sake of pretty urls I prefer
    play/Brand instead of play.php?brand=brand

    both do same job
but the script I'm posting is for links that are leaving the site, not redirecting to another page on the current site

    domain.com/play/casinoname.php or domain.com/play/casinoname.html

No question marks or other variable in the link, the play folder restricted in robots.txt, you can add tags to disable cache, index of the file or any other tags you feel necessary.

As for adding the extra to write into a database etc that can all be done inside that file.

I agree there are countless ways it can be done to be honest..
But then your creating individual pages which have no other function than a simple redirect out

I have used tracking scripts both ways and personally I have never seen any speed difference whatsoever

Everyone codes differently & each to their own

I already do this without redirecting to a thank you page, and myself personally get frustrated of being redirected to various pages instead of getting where i want straight away. do you get many drop offs?

It takes about 0.1seconds to redirect, log, and display a thank you / transporting page - no extra clicks or user interaction is required.
Why would it get drop offs ?

Having a central jumpoff point has enabled me to :
    - log clicks and user stats (OS, screen size, geo-country, click point etc.)
    - detect bots and ban
    - offer to redirect people who have made bad choices to a better bookie / casino (eg. US readers who choose UK bookies and vice-versa).

If you are "already doing this" then you must already be using a central system (whether it displays a page or not).
So you are doing the same thing really? is the only difference that you don't display anything?

Or are you really coding a lot of repetitive work into every link?
We have 40K pages, and probably around 160K links, that doesn't make sense for us.
