Denmark's Supreme Court ruled a man who earned nearly $28,000 playing online poker in a single year violated laws against professional gambling.
The court said in a ruling on Wednesday that the man violated laws by using his winnings as his sole source of income.
From United Press International:
The Supreme Court said the online poker games are subject to Danish law, despite being hosted on servers outside of the country, because the computer used to play the games was located inside of Denmark.
Prosecutors maintained the ruling did not outlaw online poker, it simply applied gambling laws to games played via the Internet.
