Disney deal with Marvel could affect Cryptologic

Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment late last month for a staggering $4 billion. This transaction could have a domino effect in the online gambling world, as Cryptologic had a deal with Marvel to use their comic book characters in slot games.

Disney is as family-friendly as a company can get, and may not want to have a relationship with an online gambling company.

Such a decision on Disney’s part would come as a huge blow for Cryptologic, with the Marvel slots becoming huge hits at online casinos powered by the software provider. Games featuring the iconic Spiderman and Incredible Hulk characters have made online gambling accessible to an all-new audience and losing such a popular franchise would be seen as a giant step backwards within the online casino industry.

However, with the acquisition process still in the embryonic stages at present, Cryptologic will continue to offer the Marvel slots to their casino partners for the duration of their current deal. What Disney will have to say about the situation, meanwhile, remains to be seen.
