Question Do you experience Summer affiliate revenue doldrums?

There are seasonal variations in online gambling activity. At Casino City, we've noticed that our revenue has historically dipped during the summer. For example, in 2006, our revenue for the months of July and August was almost 20% less than our revenue for the months of May and June. And this year the seasonal fluctuation appears to be nearly identical to last year.

Comparing our revenue this year with last year enables us to come to the conclusion that we are just observing normal seasonal fluctuations for our business rather than experiencing an erosion in our revenue stream.

What sort of revenue change did you observe last summer (July and August) as compared with the previous couple months (May and June)?

And let us know in a post how this year is shaping up as compared with last year.

Michael

Last year I saw a dip of about 20% between June/July as compared to April/May. This year it seems a good bit more, in the region of 35% but I was hit by a lot of winners in July so perhaps some of the dip should be attributed to that.

I'm holding off voting on this one... I find my revenues are still way too erratic to put a monthly up/down with any confidence. I do know my whale dropped almost exactly half last month than he had for the previous 6 months.

Back when I was exclusively a sports webmaster, it was even more diabolical than summer doldrums. There was football season and the rest of the year. I'd get a small bump for march madness and the triple crown (3 specific horse races)

I moved my site off the banner free upgraded sub domain/host in Jan. to a new domain/host so I don't really have any solid data to compare.

But as an FYI for any Noobies, I have seen a big difference in revenues when comparing the banner free upgraded sub-domain to the shorter named paid domain. (So Noobies don't waste your time with promoting sub-domains on any free or upgraded hosting.)

I can say that July was one of my better months as I had a big player and several International players. A winner wiped out a comission so it would have been even better.

So far August is extremely slow. Even my nitch retail site has slowed this month and July is usually the slowest month.

I think it would be a good idea to repeat this poll every month comparing the result of the previous month with that of a month earlier. We can then follow the revenue development in our business over a longer period.

Last year I only started earning, and in August I had some revenue, that was more than in May 2006.

Revenue-wise, it's hard to say if I'm having summer doldrums this year, since the UIGEA has had such an impact.

Traffic is down a tad - which is usual for the summer months in my experience.

This is the worst summer I have ever had. Brightshare is the only program that is producing any decent income right now. I have a few faithfuls there who are finding ways to deposit. Normally, summer is a little slower than the rest of the year, but since the new law passed, it has been slow all over.

We USED to - when we were promoting European SportsBetting only - then the end of the local football seasons hit hard.

But with the WSOP going on in July - the poker take has leapt - and it seems to me that Casino players are fairly active all year round.

So there was no drop - and a slight increase this time around.

A trend? Or a fluke?
I'll only know next year I guess.

same here K; and I am ..... or was formerly a big fan of CR/RA.

too many months gone by for me to be loyal anymore. I got a family to feed.

what i find most amazing is i have friends doing okay with CR. not great ... but better than myself and I really have promoted CR about 10x more than anything else.

I'm disappointed to the point this is the first time I've said anything negative publicly.

I'm tired of it. I am not a shill. but i have held my tongue up until now. They have had plenty of time to work out whatever problems they have and yet I'd be looking for a day job if not for other programs.

loyalty works two ways. and they're not coming thru for me. I really thought it would never come to this.

I've got new partnerships that are ranking and now we've got to go thru and change out the ads because I'm losing faith. hell I've lost faith.

a lot of years backing CR. I'm really disappointed. I suggest those having troubles like myself seek out Brightshare. They have been the brightspot.
