Do you go to Las Vegas? Discuss things to do

Do you go to Las Vegas to gamble and party?

Las Vegas has plenty of activities to do aside from gambling with sporting events such as boxing and UFC to concerts like Cher and Barbra Streisand.

A popular choice for shows are the 7 different Cirque du Soleil shows playing at some of the casinos like Aria, Mirage, MGM Grand and Bellagio.

Who goes to Las Vegas and which casino do you stay at?

I have gone to vegas prob 5 or 6 times.

    Some fun things to do:

Tour of the Grand Canyon (take the helicopter)
Las Vegas Gun Store (I am canadian so we don`t get to shoot fully auto weapons)
    Cirque or other Shows
Food - You have some amazing restaurants in Vegas
Shopping - I personally like Fashion Show Mall - Though again this might be because I am Canadian and the US gets a ton of things we don`t get up here.
Sigfriend And Roy's Secret Garden - Go see some cool cats and other animals.

As for casino, I have stayed at Hard Rock, MGM, Ballys and the Wynn. For a couple I would reccomend the Wynn, though I have heard Aria is nice and have always wanted to stay at Palms or Venetian. Hard Rock is a cool younger crowd and one of my favourites, though it is off strip so you will need to cab it everywhere.

I've only been to Vegas the once, changed flights between Boston and LA and decided to go exploring between the 8pm landing and 7am connect flight the next morning (after paying an airport attendant to 'lose' my bag so I could reclaim it from lost property in the morning, rather than lug it about all night)

Spent 11 hours wandering from Casino to Casino, bar to bar and club to club being absolutely amazed by the place - it was utterly mental. Was blown away by the Bellagio in particular.

Didn't get much touristy stuff done, but had an amazing time nonetheless and will definitely be going back for a proper stay.

I am partial to the Palazzo, but the city center is new and I haven't explored yet. Sounds like Aria is a great place to stay.

I have a forum about Vegas, you'll find lots of info there:

I want to visit Aria's death ray

More seriously though, one of the things I've enjoyed most was watching sports at Planet Hollywood with money riding on the games.

It's not the biggest spot but it's cozy and has a nice feel. Then again last time I went was the NBA finals so everyone was intense.

    Good times.

Gosh, I'd love to go to Las Vegas one day.

The hotels are sumptuous. I would like to visit the Venetian, Wynn, Bellagio, Caesar's Palace and MGM Grand in particular.

Once hears so many things about Vegas, it's like crossing to a different plane.

Well, maybe I'll win the lottery soon and fulfill my wish

I forgot to add the time when I won the biggest prize on a quarter slot machine at Venetian.

Even if it was a relatively small prize, it was memorable since I had never won anything luck based.

Like, I've never won 10$ with a loto ticket type of thing and I hit the best prize at a slot machine.

The only thing I don't like about Vegas is the Mexican street team.. the long line of people harassing you.

I haven't had the chance to visit Las Vegas but definitely it's in my To Do LIST for 2011 .
I liked hearing about all the positive feedback in this poll. I'm more excited now to go there next year. Instead of barhopping, I think I'm going to be doing some casinohopping

I like how nobody has voted on the "not interested in going" option! I have never been there, they say the pool parties are amazing!

Until I came along...sorry :P I'm not fully not interested, maybe someday but it's not anywhere near the top of the list AT ALL.

The luxury and sparkle of the place has been more than communicated via TV so I get the idea, but I think there are other places to see something similar. As for the general feeling of the place, it seems to me from stories of other people visiting that it's a place to spend too much money. The shopping is apparently not very good since it's over priced, the food too is over priced, the hotels are good, the casinos are lovely but only if you're interested in gambling everywhere and take it seriously which I don't, I do it for fun with small amounts and the shows too are expensive.

Perhaps when I'm rolling around with wads of cash to spend, I might have a quick visit Clubbing and drinking are not for me, so unless I'm willing to spend money on shows, restaurants and shopping- I might just do that elsewhere.

Sorry to be a buzz kill, I'm sure if there was a conference there to have the chance to go to, I'd be excited I wouldn't feel too bad about anything spent and maybe you guys could recommend other activities to be done that I may have not thought of.

You are right of course, but personally just the sight-seeing would be enough for me.

Well, it's bound to happen just once at some point, but once would likely be enough. It'd make for some really great pics though!

I've been to Vegas a dozen times.

If you only see one show, see Love. If you see two, see Human Nature. If you have time and money for a third, see Jersey Boys.

Shows to avoid include BeLIEve, and the silly free pirate show outside of Treasure Island.

As for hotels, I've only every stayed at the Harrah's properties and the Venetian/Palazzo. Venetian/Palazzo is my top pick. Paris is nice, too, as it is more centrally located.

I'm not much of a foodie, but I always eat at least once at the Grand Lux cafe in the Venetian.

As for sportsbooks, the Bellagio is swanky. If you want to go to the mother of all sportsbooks, go to the Las Vegas Hilton.

That's what I call informative, concise and to the point

In a few short paragraphs you have covered all points of interest.

Thanks, will keep that in mind if I get the chance to go.

Agreed, the Palazzo seems to be an overall favorite here. Thanks for the feedback
