I voted I'd be buying in 6 months or less but really that depends on whether I can save the money

I really like the idea of a tablet and when I'm not working tend to do most of my quick out of hours internet stuff on my smartphone at the moment I can nimage a tablet would prove to be an extension of this and really can't wait to get my hands on one!

I'm getting a motorola xoom for my birthday (thanks to seeing one that an aff had in dublin).. I hate apple products, although I also have an ipod touch (the ipod is the only apple thing id buy) and IMO the ipad is exactly as someone said, a bigger ipod touch.

I'll also be getting a new phone around the same time that has andriod OS so that I can use the phone for internet if I'm out of wifi area. I hate sitting on my laptop while I'm watching tv and I'm always sitting there using my ipod touch but because of the flash compatibility etc i cant view everything i want on it. it also makes it impossible to beat my mother in law on scrabble :P
My other half felt sorry for me so said he will buy me a tablet for my birthday. Lucky me

After using Motorola xoom in Dublin I recently bought the Acer tablet with android over the ipad2.

The best features I find is amazon kindle app, google apps, video editing and pulse app

I wasn't really planning on buying an iPad, but I do agree with some of the people on this thread that I wouldn't turn it down if someone handed me one.

In terms of usefulness, is there an advantage to having an iPad over having, say, a netbook? Can't the netbook do more things? And isn't it almost as small, compact and light? That's what i am considering for my next purchase.

I had no idea about the kindle app. That just made it even more appealing to me.

What's the pulse app? Is it an android thing or an acer thing?

I bought an iPad when it first came out. Probably used it less than 5 hours total before I decided to sell it. It's a great gadget don't get me wrong, but I just HATE touchscreen devices and it just is much easier and faster to do work-related stuff with a physical keyboard. Hell, I have the BlackBerry Torch and never ever use the touchscreen lol.

Having said that, I think I just like a regular laptop so much better. I have a sweet looking Dell Inspiron Mini Netbook that I custom ordered on Dell.com that I paid over $500 for(includes case, CD player attachment, bluetooth mouse) that I literally have used less than 10 hours total and am looking to sell. Anyone interested make me an offer and I will sell it asap via paypal and have it sent via UPS or Fedex to your doorstep. It's glossy black without a scratch or flaw.

I think the ipad is overpriced. I also see a lot of people say the restrictions by apple put them off. I sell android tablets on one of my ecommerce shops and Android tablets fly out. Much more freedom, much less restrictions and much much cheaper. You can pick up a good android tablet for around £100 or so. Even though i sell them i still havent got one myself. Closest i've had was the Dell Streak which i have to say was awesome although the size was too big for a mobile which was its primary purpose.

I'll be getting a tablet soon though
