Do your website(s) have a visible spokesperson?

Many webmasters infuse their sites with the personality of the webmaster or owner that operates them, and that person acts as a spokesperson on the site. The casinomeister.com site is one example of a well known site run that way. On the other end of the spectrum, directory sites like CasinoCity.com often have no spokesperson for the site who is a guide to visitors.

For today's question of the week I thought I would ask what type of sites you operate. What is their point of view? Be sure to share your thoughts in a post about why you have adopted the approach you have, how well you think it works, and what the right balance is from your perspective.

I voted no - but my site is fairly new and it is my first affiliate gambling website anyway so I haven't really made an effort to 'personalize' it or not. What has happened naturally is that the articles and content I am writing have ended up being very impersonal, mostly written in the third person.

This is probably because I am a scientist, and am used to writing very impersonal, technical, reports. However, I do think that this can be the wrong approach, especially for a site with lots of content where you are trying to give good information to the surfers. I suspect it would be better for the site to be more personal - maybe not as strong as a single personality that obviously overarches the site but certainly slant the articles (especially say on the blog or on review articles) so that it is more obvious there is a real person writing the blog, and playing the (in my case bingo) games and reviewing them.

I have to fight off a working lifetimes instinct to be cold and impersonal in my writing! I am not succeeding yet.

Nope, nobody ever heard of Dominique.

Jokes aside, I believe in making myself available, and I believe in strong customer service.

My sites are pretty mixed but usually people know where they can find me if needed. I'll be working to make it easier for my players to find me over the next few month.

I guess that makes me the spokesperson for RA, however our sites aren't currently set up to reflect that.

We have a new website on the way which will have my mug all over the place though, so everyone is going to get sick of me pretty quickly

Personally I think it's good to have a personality behind the site. It lets people know that there is a real person there, and that the site isn't just a money making machine.

OMG That is scary. Hope he at least shaved his legs. Think I'll shy away from pomps place until the coast is clear.

Really though, across my group of sites it is mixed. With the forum of course I am very visable. For the other portals, just a name.

I have no plans to create a spokes person, but that is something that may change once the site has been running for a while.

I'm not sure about 'Spokesperson' as such from a Merchant perspective, I think it's more important that everyone involved in the client-facing/affiliate side of the business is accountable, and ultimately responsive to their affiliates in the community around them. However, I always enjoy an affiliates' site more when there is a an element of their personality in their efforts, otherwise they just become a homogeneous list of identkit websites, and no-one wants that.

I try very hard to make my email visible and i used to have live support but the only attention it ever got was from AMs so I eventually gave it up.

but I usually answer emails within 24 hours.
Almost Here! How would you like to be able to get not just one sign up from your player, or even a couple, but every single casino they join from here on? I've a plan that can make that happen and it will likely also tell you every time the player is active within the casino.
