Dust Storm Sydney/NSW

Hey guys

There was a HUGE dust storm over eastern NSW last night and there have been some pictures posted... These pictures are currently what I'm seeing when I look out the window of the office.. It's weird.. Looks like Armageddon outside.

Yes Renee, a friend sent me some of the photos. Weird. Bit of chaos with public transport etc by the sounds of it.

We has a similar thing in Melbourne a while back although definitely not that bad. Sydney sure does get some weather extremes.

Bummer! I've never experienced that. How do you deal with that Renee? Do you have to wear masks and stuff like that?

It's just starting to roll through Brisbane now, supposed to get worse as the afternoon wears on. If I get any good pics I'll post them!

Wow... Those are some neat pics. How long was your commute? If it's usually 1.5 hours, I can only imagine what it was like this morning....

Bummer! I've never experienced that. How do you deal with that Renee? Do you have to wear masks and stuff like that?

They actually put out a warning to everyone that if they didn't have to go outdoors then they shouldn't, especially those with breathing problems, pregnant women and older folks... so basically instead of people wearing masks, they just told them to stay inside and only go outside if absolutely necessary.

A lot of kids didn't go to school (my brother included because he has really bad asthma) and I imagine a lot didn't go to work..

It took me 2 hours to get to work today... such a pain in the ass...

I attached 4 pics from outside my house at 6am... It was really freaky actually.. Usually you can see the steelworks (1st and 2nd pics) and the lake and an island in the middle of the lake (picture 4) but you cant even see the mountains near my house...

There were lots of accidents on the road this morning... you could see no more than 100m in front of you on the road.

Very nice pictures Renee of your dust storm in Australia.

We get them also all the time coming over Israel from the deserts of Jordon and Syria.

What I would like you to find out for me is about the rampaging frogs all over Australia and I saw that the whole town of Darwin is fighting a loosing battle against the little beasts.

Just goes to show that you should never tamper with nature and bring a new species of frog into the country to attack and destroy corn beetles.......when in the end the frogs did not even like the beetles. They went for all the other bugs around instead.

Have the frogs also taken over from within the town you live in?

Have a week and send us the latest croak pls.........sorry for that...lol

I could see where driving in those conditions could be almost like driving in one of our daily rain storms.

At least with our storms they rarely last more than 30-45 minutes....

Is this a rare occurence for you guys?

Yeah it is... I've never seen it in my life.

ironman - the frogs (cane toads) are not where I live.. They are basically in Queensland and Northern Territory (northern parts of australia)...

They are such pests actually that people are rumoured to play golf with them... if you watch the movie "The Craic" you will see

I heard this morning that it was the worst ones in a while in Brisbane, not sure about NSW though.

Def not.. I'm feeling it today.. I've been sick for the last 2 weeks, almost 3 weeks now.. Just starting to get over it, and the dust didn't help much at all.. I'm feeling worse today than I did yesterday actually.. My sinuses are a little blocked again and I'm all phlegmy..

I've never thought about how to spell 'phlegmy'. I suppose I usually visualize my thoughts.. err.. thats not a pretty picture!

And my cough is even worse today... stupid cough.

The funny thing is that I wouldn't have to think twice about how to spell phlegm, but if you asked me how to spell the word "breathe" or "breath" I always confuse myself to which is which.

Wow, that's really wierd looking. No chance of it here in Scotland though, the rain would see to that.
