facebook, twitter. effective ways to use social media

hi, i have been trying to use facebook and twitter to promote my sites and to leave a footprint by dropping links in facebook(my account, fake account, on fan pages and group pages) and the same for twitter, i also have made a facebook fan page to promote my site but i cant get any fans lol, i dont want to spam my friends feeds wall, so is their a correct way to do this, what do you guys/gals do? anyhelp as always is super appreciated because i hear social media is a really important part of seo

Join and participate in discussions of groups related to your site, you can also create like contests and reward them or acknowledge users for joining and linking to your site. There's actually many ways on how you can use social media in promoting your site, just don't be afraid to try new things.

Like dont expect to get 10,000 followers on twitter overnight...
Becoming popular in social media is something you need to continually work on, and again, I find the best method is to become involved and offer the people reading your stuff something back....Whether that be a content or good info....The visitor needs a reason to come a visit your site...

Nowadays, social media (e.g., facebook, twitter, youtube, etc.) is getting its extensive growth as part of SEO. And it is truly proven that these are such effective ways to create traffic from your site. As for me, i do a lot of ways to gain followers:
1. Finding for an group or individual account related to my site.
2. follow them and their followers (we are joining these sites because we need followers and same with them)
3. promoting your site together with some spice (offering them great bonuses and acknowledging them).
4. like and retweet their post and they will do the same. Social media is just like give and take, you give your vote to them and they will give the same to you.
