According to Google (https://support.google.com/webmaster.../6229325?hl=en) there's no way to be listed there if not chosen by Google itself. Now, since results are displayed (i suppose) by an algorithm, there should be a way add more odds to be chosen, by enhancing the source code of your site. What do i believe is that Breadcrumbs and micro-data should make the trick. What do you think?

Just googled the site that you displayed, take a look at their back link profile and what they've done is incredibly black hat! Links on top edu domains all over the place hidden in the text.

This isn't whats causing it but I couldn't imagine them sticking around for that long.

Thought all this additional content being displayed was supposed to be related to authority sites primarily (although define that succinctly!), seen some basic stuff like this on some of our pages in the past although certainly not as elaborate as the example above. Not some kind of code/markup that I'm aware of, seems to just be grabbing the content from the page which in turn is very relevant to the search term whenever I've looked into it.

Yup like a large % of top10 casino related results.. hidden links that show up in the source page, colleges and gov pages... it really is one big mess right now, most of the top10 cookie cutters are guilty of this.. don't thos .gov and .edu sites love to link to casinos? especially ones that are not even in english

Thats the thing these aren't even hidden they are there in plain sight with text around it which is completely irrelevant. I'll PM you one of the backlinks. I've seen people use spam and sape links before to get to the top but never anything like this.

Backlinks are not hidden: just injected in the targets' source code with the same color of the text around, no hovering effects.
    Example:

    Source code

    Frontend

    (image url: http://i.imgur.com/amfVsOA.jpg)

    So:

    1. Code injections
    2. Similar listings as "someone we know very good..." (Parklane, EuroMoon, Buffalo Brands, Casino Land...)
    3. Same geo-targeting technique
    4. To be continued...

I thought it might be micro data also? Noticed it a lot more recently.

My first thought is, another great trick from Google to take up even more first page real-estate away from 2nd, 3rd, 4th position etc. Therefore limiting massively the amount of money lower down affiliates can make out of 'money' keyword search terms and ultimately (Google hope) driving people to try out PPC.

I do not believe that Google are doing anything for the user anymore, it's all about increasing their revenue and maximising. They know this is their time now to max out the revenue from Google, things will inevitably change in a few years so this is their time to plunder.

Seeing lots more of these tables appearing in search results recently, taking up loads of real estate in the viewable portion of the page. So basically the viewable portion (on desktop) is now 4 ads and 1 big table, handy way for Google to bump out places 2 and 3 from the listings giving less 'real' competition for their PPC adverts.

Seems like Beacon's and Stephen's team is doing a great job since 4 of the casinos above are part of their affiliate program

I saw this also in uk by searching "betting tips". Seems like is related to domain autority and the html (using table code with <tr>)
