France did it! So did Illinois! APCW Perspectives Weekly 16 October 2009

The French National Assembly has approved a bill regulating online gambling, and we have all the ugly details. Plus, the U.S. state of Illinois has legalized online horse racing, and UIGEA Regulations are set to go into effect.

Well done as usual! I really feel for the affiliates that have a large base of french players, once again affiliates are under the gun to lose a significant amount of revenue.

J.Todd WTF dude I think you have finally achived a higher level of insanity than anyone ever thought possible, Great show as ever.

As for the French ruling is sucks man, i am sure a few companies will set up in France but again ythis is down tax, you open up in France and then bang a tax bill hits your desk.

I would love to see you cover the Estonian ruling, as from January you need a licence as well, if you fancy doing something on it I can hook you up with a legal team that can give you a run down.

Thanks again dude and take the pills they will help......

JTodd is just getting warmed up... he is a wild and crazy guy.

Shaun we would be interested in looking at the Estonian ruling.

As far as I'm concern, any country that opens up its door to online gambling is a great thing.

Also I like France, happy to go and check out this new opening market...

and potentially get an event there...

    you never know...

I thought France opening the door to regulation is a positive step. It may not suit a lot of operators, but at least it provides a choice. Has to be a step forward from the Ostrich approach.

Maybe I better watch the video first lol

EDIT: OK watched...a mixed bag indeed! Banning online slots? Sheesh.

    Simmo

i would also guess that affiliate earning would be less as the operator would no doubt have to pay some horrific local taxes.

Some months ago Italy "opened" to online betting: only operators paying a huge tax to the government will be able to enter the Italian market. If they don't pay, their website gets censored
And what about if they pay the license? Like in France, all the accounts belonging to Italian players must be closed before operating....
Hard times for affiliates in Europe...
