    Default Further backlinking questions

    Hi -

I seem to be picking up backlinks from weird porn sites ending .ml and .cf. Is this normal? I guess I just disavow them.

But I've also noticed backlinks from hxxps://www.robinspost.com and londonlifestyleawards.com.

Where do all these links come from?

    Thanks for any advice here.

From my experience: many links from trash websites have very short life, Google or hosting companies periodically shut down such websites. Of course it doesn't mean that you have to rely on them only, the disavow tool is always on your disposition.

BTW, fix or remove the link to londonlifestyleawards, it is direct link to your Search Console.

I disavow robinspost personally. And I would certainly disavow porn links. I don't recognize the other domain.

    Default Apology From RobinsPost

When the Robin Bird, owner of RobinsPost.com, was flying around the web for news, I noticed this thread
about my site being linked to porn sites. I have been working on cleaning up the spam on my site so this issue should not be a problem.

I do apologize for this. Not my policy on my site to be associated with porn sites.

    Thanks for posting this information.

    Sincerely,
    Robin Casey

It depends on which source you are checking your backlinks. Moz, Ahrefs, Majestic, Screaming Frog, Cognitive, and tools like these, will always find more links than Google. Especially spammy ones.

This doesn't mean that Google crawler is poor. There are a million spammy domains included in Google's "ignore" list. They actually "flag" domains like these and they do not include them in their algorithms when it is about to rank a site.

For example, you may find at Moz thousand spam links linking to your site, while you will never see these in your Google Webmasters Console.

If you want to be 100% sure, disavow. I do it too, but not as an 'emergency'.

About your question "Where do all these links come from?" - The Internet is a mass anarchy. Always expect a case like this or negative SEO campaigns by competitors or just curious people. Especially when you made something good and gets attention.

Generally, you do not have to worry a lot about spam links. Google, they know well what they are doing, and they are about to get rid of the disavow tool in the near future.

Thanks for feedback. Im erring on side of caution partly because my site is literally a few months old so im keen to avoid any possible penalties. So ive disavowed all unknown domains! Good to hear this is not unusual.

I have approved the response from robins post.

Looking at the robins post site, I would most likely disavow it as well.

Looks to be a site with only content taken from other sources, (with very little of their own content) and certainly not related in most ways to our industry, even with the handful of content (from other sources) that deal with sports would not be enough reason for me to not disavow in my opinion.
