It's official. After weeks of denying it, Harrah's announced today that they had indeed hired Mitch Garber. But the way Harrah's made the announcement suggests they're trying real hard to hide it. PR 101 says that when you're trying to hide something, you announce it on the Friday afternoon of a long weekend (this Monday is a bank holiday in the U.S.). So that's what Harrah's did. This afternoon, they announced the hiring of Garber to run Harrah's Interactive Entertainment -- a subsidiary of Harrah's created to "explore a European interactive strategy" and "manage the global growth of the World Series of Poker." Sounds to Buzzy like they don't want the feds snooping around...And if you're wondering what to expect from a potential online poker room from the WSOP, this release gives at least a partial answer. Look for the new offering to tie in Harrah's Total Rewards loyalty scheme -- thus giving players a brick and mortar tie to the online world.
