Default Google introduces the +1 button

    Google brings the +1 button:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAyUN...eature=related

Apparently one of the benefits is:

Once you add the button, Google may crawl or recrawl the page, and store the page title and other content, in response to a +1 button impression or click.
    Has anyone tried it yet?

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks of Google's +1 button. On the one hand, it could be a way to make your sites stand out in the SERPs. On the other hand, this seems to be just another button to add to an Internet filled with buttons. I found this take on the Google +1 button. It takes a look at things from a webmaster's point of view.

I think, if you are on Google's playground, it's better to play with their toys . I am gonna give it a try, as people's curiosity might give the button extra clicks in the beginning.

Also this button actually affects your know associates' search results. When a visitor of yours +1's it, all of his friends that might otherwise never notice you can now see you as well. Those are just theoretical speculations however, I don't know how well it will be applied in real life.

+1 coming of the back of Facebooks Like button I am guessing.

Is the +1 live? I'm trying to find it in the serps or toolbar, but no go!?

I see it in my results, when someone that I know has +1'ned a post.

Yes, the +1 is competing with Facebook's Like button. I know widespread implementation just began. It might take a bit to get going.

The beer really is better over there then here. Either that or I was having a really great time (which I did).

I'm going to buy a 6 pack of carlsberg, 6 pack of bulmers cider this weekend.. and I'm going to sample and compare the lot while my missus is away on Saturday night. I'll report back on findings.

I have this bad habit of eating cookies while I drink beer. Amazingly didn't do it while I was in Ireland.

    Beer and sweets? Really?

BTW once you click on that +1 button again, you can undo your +1 the very moment.

I see you guys mentioned the Facebook button, but can those really be compared. This button can affect your serp position, while the facebook one can't. If you have a large audience, that somehow has your Gmail (perhaps you've sent a newsletter or something) and you +1 your post, all of them are going to see it, if they happen to be searching for the thing, the post is about. I find that pretty cool.

I was going to say can be open for abuse - but if you can only see when a friend has +1'ed it.. you cant see a spam group of guys pumping up their own listings.

Yes I can see where this can be abused, and if the bulk of the users that even know what this does is the webmaster and the affiliate community, I can't see where this fits in to Google affecting results that are manipulated strictly by the webmaster and seo community and NOT by end users.

Google has always wanted us to believe that the results they provide are based upon end-user choices and NOT by seo manipulation and to me this appears will be manipulated.

I sense.. a.. new.. fiverr explosion.. and a huge BH market...
Well.. Then the rich and famous will have more power once again..

How the heck do you compete with someone who can get 2-3k diggs in a few hours, what can he/she do with the G-like button?
I guess setting up a script that G-like your page on each hit and then bulk buy traffic will do the trick..

If this is going to be a new standard, I'm out of this for real..

That could be true, but this fever isn't really one sided.

First off, people that do not have gmail accounts won't see the button (pity for those 2 lol ). Second, this works more like the "trojan/virus" principle.

Imagine that my click actually "infects" metaphorically speaking my gmail. All of my contacts that search for the keywords will see my post high enough. They however have to +1-it too to help the whole thing to spread out. Once they like it, their contact list is "infected" as well. Then their contacts get the same, etc etc.

The more people like it, and I mean people with huge contact lists, the more people will see it.

I won't be surprised if people start promoting Gmail, and encourage everyone to communicate via Gmail

Could be the beginnings of a Google social network since Facebook took over Google in the most visited website rankings. Google has to do something, or FB is going to expand its technology base to keep its users using its own systems.

Yes I read that they have plans for a new social network despite the rather limp Buzz attempt.
