    Gotta Love BING

I don't know about you all, but I am seeing about a 30% jump in traffic from BING in the last couple of months. I held the same keyword positions in MSN's old "live" search and never got this level of traffic from them.

the traffic from BING seems to be steadily growing as well...

A real challenger to the great and powerful google...maybe?

I have also heard (but can not verify) that BING uses real live people to 'weed out' a big part of their SERP...

I use Bing for my personal searches now... if you buy anything online, because of the mouse over showing content you can pretty much weed out all the big networks like netshops and get to the smaller sites with more interesting items...

The problem I am having with Bing is that they continue to index pages that have been 301'd.

My traffic with them has been a bit spotty, but is a little better than what I was getting from Live.

I am seeing several basic differences between the way bing and google handle redirects of any kind.

    Yes I am too.

I have spent a little time in their forums and see that really want to work out the kinks, but they have some flaws with the way they are set up.

As an example, they have no way to send a private message, so if you have a redirect issue and ask them to look into it, the admin suggests posting a link....well that's pretty stupid since that would mean there was a new existing link to a page that is redirected elsewhere...

That is just one minor thing I have noticed, there are others....LOL

I only scanned through their forums very quickly.

The one thing I did noticed was that they seem willing to work with webmasters much more than in the past.

Seems they have learned from google that they need to work with webmasters and not act like we don't exist.

Yes, I'm happy with what I see of Bing thusfar, and I have no particular complaints about their SERPS either.

On google searching for "casinos" the casino city home page is the number 1 normal website listing result at the moment with news results being shown first, and it is the number 1 normal web listing result at the moment on bing after a couple sponsored listings search and image results.

And for "casinos" we're the number 5 website search result on bing, and the number 1 result on google.

In terms of overall organic web traffic, the following shows the change in bing organic traffic the main casino city website has received as compared with google traffic.

The first column is the time period and the second column is the number of organic bing or msn results per 100,000 google organic results.

    1 to 10 July 2009 - 34,091
    21 to 30 June 2009 - 33,977
    11 to 20 June 2009 - 29,337
    1 to 10 June 2009 - 21,252
    21 to 31 May 2009 - 20,302
    11 to 20 May 2009 - 20,592
    1 to 10 May 2009 - 20,159

So, at least in the case of Casino City, the relative amount of traffic from Bing/MSN versus Google has increased nearly 70% over the last six weeks.

Well MSN tried to buy Yahoo like three times without success, anything to take on Goggle and Yahoo. So in comes Bing and so far IMO searches are very relevant. A new algo in town and at present I feel Google and Yahoo are way behind the eight ball on this one.

    Awesome!

I am impressed with bing. Microsoft actually did something right, who would have guessed it. There seems to be a genuine interest in listening to the feedback and making modifications accordingly.

Well, I decided the results are interesting enough that I've changed bing to be my default search engine, at least for the time being, so I can become more familiar with it.

I also played around with some airline reservations using it earlier today. Bing has some neat features on that front, definitely fancier than what google provides. For example, searching on flights between a couple US cities I could specify a trip length and starting period, and it graphed out the lowest round-trip airfares for a 30 day period. Actually a nicer presentation than I've seen on most of the travel sites I use.

Traffic is promising, but I've been looking at the top stops and they seem to rely heavily on the homepage's title and domain name. This is great for some, but not so good for the more branded based domain names.

Bing is great fun and we have certainly noticed a traffic increase. Around 9% over the last two weeks. It seems that their algorithm is almost like a real human searching for you. They leave out a lot of rubbish.

Thats why i am getting nothing from Bing then!

They are an intelligent search engine and filter out the rubbish!

They must know me very well!

I really like Bing, because when I search for [GamTrak] it correctly brings all of my legitimate sites to the top spots and not spammer and trash sites (unlike google and yahoo). In my mind that is the way a SE should work.

I'm still quite skeptical about the possible traffic potential in Bing since the fame of it's release isn't forgotten yet. Maybe after 6 months or a year when people will start to wonder the true differences of these search engines.

They have been doing a good bit of television ads lately. I still go to Google for a 1st choice but my traffic does show a slight increase coming from Bing.

I poked around a bit in the webmaster section there, some good stuff, just need to find the time to dig a bit deeper into it.

    Switching Search Engines

I guess a few people are getting bored with the all white pages of google, and one big draw for "Non Techies" are the photo's in the Bing site search

I also see more traffic comming from Bing but I always received good traffic from MSN for "airline tickets" and "cheap flights" actually more than what I got from google...

Remember Yahoo, Hotbot, Netscape, Altavista and Excite... Those were big search engines long before google and when google came it draw the world to it! Five years ago facebook were nothing and Twitter something for the birds...

I think we are just in the process of seeing things happening more faster than ever...

I begin liking Bing because of the huge traffic it gives to my site as well as the keywords. Three of my keywords are placed on the top 10.
