I think I might have my alexa rank position mostly thanks to hacker attacks.. at my previous host I moved from shared hosting to vps host, and the support guy didn't know what he was doing..
Now I'm at a new host and properly configured the server myself the attacks are coming to a halt.

Not as yet but we are receiving notifications daily that groups are trying to access the server. Firewall is built in and our hosts are superb.

Not a thing as far as I know.
When he was hired he lived in the UK, shortly after the hire, he moved to Romania, claiming the cost of living was less.

We contacted Europol but were informed that Romania is out of their (and just about everyone's) legal reach and we also found out the Romanian Police are a joke, if we paid them they would arrest the hacker... I though about it, but I figured the chances of getting ripped off by the Romanian police was a real possibility. So we just dropped it and moved on.

I have seen at times when people tried to get in the back door but they have never been successful thankfully! I have read on other forums though where without keeping wirdpress updated this can happen pretty easily. I always try to make sure I check even old sites to make sure they are updated.

Keeping wordpress or joomla up to date is just a small step in protecting your site. Most attacks are on the server and database.

If anyone has an apache server install mod_security. It made my life so much easier

Yes, indeed. And "ClamAV" and "csf + lfd firewall" is a must have

We used to see a lot of bot attacks against FTP domains, but unless you have a really weak password your provider shouldn't let them make many attempts.
