Default Have you or do you want to make the jump to working on a portal being your main job?

For some of us working on our gaming sites is our regular job. For some of us it is something we do on the side.

This week I thought I'd ask where you sit on this spectrum, and whether you would consider making the switch to working on your portal sites being your regular job if it is not today.

If you've already made the switch, make a post to let us know when you did, and your thoughts at the time. If you are trying to make the switch, let us know in a post how it is going, and your goals for how you plan to make that happen. And if you want your portal sites to stay as a hobby or as a small business on the side, share your thinking with us too.

Michael

As most of you all know, I am building the business so that I can go full time into this, I have another year and a few months to accomplish this task.

Mine is partly hobby and partly sideline business, but one day I would like it to be part of a group of businesses that I own that together, would provide my income (if that makes any sense whatsoever)

The thing that would worry me (and probably others here too) would be that you could have a very good year and decide to make the move, but then it could be wiped out in an instant - i.e. new regulation, google algos changing, possibility of google penalties introduced for all gambling sites (if you rely on google)...

I think that some sort of plan B needs to be formulated in advance just in case things do go wrong. It would be interesting to know what sort of plan B those that made the move had when they decided to take the leap?

I would love to be able to replace my current income with my passion of operating a successful portal site.

Hopefully that will happen sometime in the next 15 monthsl

Working on my portal is my main job since over two years. However, I must say that I don't depend on it for my living because I can live on my pension. I don't want to call it my hobby either because you generally don't think of making money with your hobby.

Not the day job, yet! but hopefully one day will be.

It is very competitive what we do and hard to predict the numbers.

It's my main job! It was difficult to leave my previous job (I worked as a software engineer) More than a year ago I left it and became a full-time webmaster. And now I enjoy my current job!

Its not my main job, but I spend more time at it. So in a way, I work on it full time, just not quite there yet as for as income.
