Have you participated in gaming tournaments?

Our reporting team is covering the North American Poker Tour tournament sponsored by Poker Stars taking place at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut now. This got me thinking about the importance of tournaments in the both the land-based and online gaming worlds.

So, for this week's question I thought I would ask if you have ever personally participated in a tournament, and if so, which types.

Be sure to share your thoughts about tournaments in a post. Have you ever won or placed in one youself? Do you use them as a way to engage players to earn money as an affiliate? What types of tournaments? - Poker, slots, blackjack, or something else?

I play at least one poker freeroll every day/every second day. Not really expecting to win, just trying to see if I can be better than the day before..

I've played slots tournaments too but they are less fun.

I used to play online poker tournaments every day. Have won and/or cashed too many to count. I rarely have the opportunity to play live tournaments due to my schedule and location but have taken part in a few. These days it's much more difficult to find the time (or energy) to play often but I still enjoy the challenge and rush of finishing in the money.

    Hey everybody!

I have played in online poker and slot tournaments, to no avail..lol....and i have also enjoyed playing in online hearts and spades tournaments when i find a nice place to play at.

Someday i would love to enter into a poker tourney like the one in the movie Maverick.....get me on a riverboat with a bunch of wealthy hot looking poker playing men and i would be one happy lady! lol

    cheers

I used to play poker, slots and blackjack tournaments fairly regularly but struggle to find the time these days.

It's on my list of things to do more of though and I've started getting back into playing poker more often.

Played the PokerNations.com Charity event last weekend, my first tournament in months and took the 10th place slot so I was well chuffed!!

I've played in online poker tournaments, but most have been industry-related, just fulfilling my duties as an affiliate manager.

Have also played in offline poker tournaments but nothing serious!

I used to play in land based poker tournaments at Pechanga, Commerce, the Bike and a few smaller card rooms about 3-4 times a week but have since moved from that area. I've also won/cashed in quite a few of them. I'm now much closer to Vegas but haven't even found time to make it out there yet "used to go there more often when I lived further away, go figure".

I still do play in online poker tournaments a few times a week "alot less than I used to" but I play mostly cash games online. I've also played in a few land based blackjack tournaments with limited success "I don't like that game much anymore and I guess it doesn't like me either". Could never get myself to sit at the slots though.

I used to play a ton of online poker tournaments, now it's more cash games than tournaments but I still play my fair share.

Up until about a year and a half ago I played a lot of online poker, it was my main 'gambling game/hobby' really. For various reasons I haven't played much since then although I retain an interest in strategy and so on, so will take it up again I expect if/when my life settles so I have some more free time.

I mainly played limit cash hold'em (occasionally pot limit). I also played in the occasional no limit tourney - was never very good but had some cashes! All small time.

Would love to play live poker, and my local casino does small buy in tournaments most days of the week, but that would take some serious organizing for me to get through it - one day maybe!

Edit: Wow old post bumping here! Didn't notice that
