Help!
Ok, Im not sure what this is.
I ran a meta tag check on my site, and to my surprise there were words I had never put there. So I went into my site in the html editor, and low and behold, my tags were gone, along with a new file in there labeled private, that I have no idea what it is.
I fixed my tags, and now the site will not load. Not only that, when I rechecked, the tags are gone again.
whats going on?

Another thinkI noticed, when I save the tags , I do it under file index.html, but there is another one there
that I have not noticed before that says index.htm,
when I click on it , I get my webhosts page saying comming soon, if your the site owner your site will be displayed here. ?
Im not a webmaster, lol Thats why I bought my domain name and had it hosted where they have a sitebuilder.
So Im so frustrated and lost

update
Update,...
I did get the index page to come back up, just by pretending to edit that page and replublishing it,...
but I am still having the tag problem. Is there anything out there someone could be using to zap my tags?
I can not figure out why they will not save, and when attempt to put them back, I loose my index page.
I think I need to take an html class, lol

The index.htm page is probably the default page the host put in until you actually published your site for the first time.
I suggest you check with your host to be sure you can use the index.html page as your home page as they may have set the default page to .htm instead of .html
After publishing you say you have a folder called private....are you using Front Page? If so this is normal.
I am not sure what you mean about the tags being added. If you use front page and you are comparing what you see in code view, to what you see in source view after publishing, this is due to the front page extensions on the server, and the code that is added to the pages in order to handle the navigation structure of the site when using shared borders.

re
Hi,
Thanks. Yeah, that explains the other keywords.
I still can not figure out how when I save my metatags
to the html editor, they are no longer saving.
After I save and overwrite the name of the file,
go back and look , they are gone. This is new, because this was not happening before. It explains why I am
having a hard time getting on google.
I know they worked, once. When I first added them,
they would save , and Im on msn under my keywords,
so Im not sure why its not working now.
I emailed the webhost to see if they know what is going on.

Let me know how that goes and if there is anything I can do to help.
If needed I could set up an ip for you on one of my servers and you could publish to it to see if there are any changes taking place that are related to your workstation or if it is server side.
I am VERY well versed in all things front page...including server-side.

Re
Im actualy using trellix. I pay them 12 a month to host it,
and includes thier site buidler, but it also lets you do things manualy. I choose it because Im not a webmaster, lol but I know a little bit. I do have the site backed up on my system in a file, so I guess I would just have to upload it to do that? Ive never dont that before either, lol This is the third website I have done.
Its been a few years, I sold my old ones. Wish I kept them. I wont sell this one, its my pet
I am seriously considering taking a class, I would like
to figure out how to add things manualy to the navigation bar etc, without using the buldler as it limits me. I get the concept of downloading a page from the site and putting it on an editor to do things, then uploading it back up, but actualy doing it is another story. I am afraid Iw ill mess the entire site up and have to start from scratch. I already had to redo one page from scratch when I messed up the html code I put in.
That was not fun.
Anyway,. yeah at least the site is back up.
Here is what happens, I goto the html editor,
and put in my tags. I save it. After I save it, the Index page will not load . If I go into the index page, and
edit it somewhere and resave it, it now works again,
but the tags are again gone. somehow it resets back to the old index. Hope Im making sense. I do not know why it started doing this, it worked fine before unless it has to with that index htm, and mabey I need to rename the file that, but Im afraid to try it incase I really mess it up,lol

Wow,
I got a surprise today for as new as my site is.
I was checking the urls who visited the site, and checked the last msn entry. Looked it up and low and behold its already first place for that keyword.
About knocked me over,lol
Of course it was working rite when I submitted it there.
I checked google and its only listed by the site title,
and ranked 0,lol I need to get it fixed. My brother says he has front page, and when he gets back to california next week, hes going to send it to me.

Re
Ok, I finaly got a respose from them.
Appearently , you can not use the free form editor and
the site builder at the same time. Since Im not
experienced to do everything freeform, I am restricted to the buidler. So Now I need to find out if there is way to add them using the buidler, if not, I think I will find a new hosting service.
