Help! Traffic but no conversions!
Hi,
I have a site in Spanish, and I'm getting a reasonable amount of traffic - some 100 visits/day.
The problem is I am getting very few conversions or click-throughs. I'd really appreciate any advice on what I may be doing wrong or common practices that I'm missing.
The site is www.yabadoo.es
Thanks!

OK firstly I can't read Spanish so that limits constructive criticism However one thing jumps out at me...you don't have any/many links to casinos on the front page. It's all about driving traffic down through the site. Thats not a bad thing - it pays to have a good structure and link to more detail, but the best sites always have the casinos/poker rooms etc visible and linkable the minute the visitor arrives at the site.
Its a fact that a large number of visitors do no more than skim over information and don't read a lot, so it would help IMO to have a few casinos listed on the homepage. In fact every page should give the visitor some choices of casinos to click on and go to.
Cheers
Simmo!

Thanks for the feedback. Spanish aside, your comment is spot-on. I've been busy trying hard not to look just like all the other sites and to make it content-rich. This has paid off on the SEO front, but perhaps I need to dumb down a little!! I'll try this ASAP, it's not like there's a shortage of banners...
Thanks again for the feedback - I've been mumbling to myself in the dark hours for many days now, great to discuss it instead!

I wouldn't exactly call it "dumbing down", but I get your point. I agree with Simmo, have a "Call to Action" is important. Place some brightly colored "Click Here to Play Now" type of links in prominant parts of your site. Please let us know how it turns out!
Cheers!

I'm in exactly the same position as you - same traffic, few conversions. Again, I thought that players would be attracted deeper into the site by the prospect of 1. Learn, 2. Practice, 3. Play for real, and I designed the site around that premise.
To agree with Simmo and WagerX, following the advice of one of my Aff managers I started placing a recommended section on the home page and this has helped with conversions, but only with the one featured site per month.
So I'm redesigning again, and I'll have links to all the casinos and bonuses placed prominently on the home page. It's not dumbing down, it's acknowledging that a lot of visitors (the ones we need, actually!) don't want to read reams of information, they just want to play. Let's give them what they want!

I agree with the others that you need more call to action. Means more links and graphics linking to the casinos.
Also the copy is too analytical.
Instead, "the site is relative new"....... "the design needs improvement" , I would focus only in describing the games at each casino with more words.
Just think in a worker 7 pm at home trying to have some fun
I would remove the "create your blog" section and "news and promotions" section to fill this space with casino/bingo/poker descriptions and direct links.
Try this section at the bottom of the page.

Many thanks for all the feedback, muchas gracias a todos. Lots of good and useful comments. I've been too analytical and outside the mindset of the user, thanks for putting me back on track.

Why not also have an english version of the site? Wouldnt this also open it up to an even larger audience?

I've been thinking about it, but the competition in English is much more fierce! I thought I'd try the Spanish market first, see how it goes, then maybe go into English market...

Your site has good values for backlinks etc. So, I think, you have done a lot to get traffic. Now you must check whether you have a low or good bounce rate and keep the visitors on your site for a while reading or clicking banners etc. You should use a tool like Google Analytics to trace the path of the visitors of your site as long as they are on your site. This is a great help to optimize your site. The other question is: have you checked if the casinos you are affiliated with are recording the actions of your visitors properly? If they record many clicks without deposit, something may be wrong.
