Smile Hmm i'm a bit confused about Backlinking

Hey! I've had my site up and running for about 3 months now.. I got decent traffic and almost no backlinks that i am aware of. Where should i start and what kind of backlinks counts?

I mean i do have some nice articles and stuff, should i try to get people to link to my articles? And how much does e.g pinterest and reddit count towards backlinking? Im ranking somewhat good on some of my longtail keywords which is nice and i do think that my site looks pretty clean. www.casinomartini.com if you'd like to check it out. (I mean, does this link count as a backlink?)

Hi - I think the key with backlinks is to aim for quality over quantity. Ideally you want backlinks from relevant sites (gambling related), that have good traffic. You can assess traffic by looking in ahrefs, semrush and other tools (thought they won't give you the full picture). There is also DA that is an indication of quality of a site - however be careful with this because many sites have manipulated DA with their own dodgy strategies and it can be misleading.

To get links you can buy or try building relationships with suitable sites and hope they will take something from you that includes a backlink, or even just link to your sites in one of their own pieces. The former can be expensive, the latter is tough unless you have your own really good quality, original content that someone would want to link to. You need to think outside the box a bit with that one - i.e. a site review or an article on casino bonuses and how to claim them isn't so original (though of course you do need that stuff on there anyway). If you think about it there are many angles to write on casinos (cultural reference points, business news, customer rights, compliance etc).

That's how it is supposed to work anyway! Having said all that, it still seems that if you check backlink profiles for some of the biggest sites and your main competitors out there, they all seem to include weird links from strange Russian blogs and totally unrelated pages with tons of images on them and high DAs. So maybe you can go down that route. Just be aware if Google catches up, you'd loose all your rankings!

    Enjoy!

In my opinion; "Getting the backlinks" process should be all natural. Just produce content which people will admire to spread the word!

Never buy backlink! Today the link giving site may not be a penalised one but no one ever knows that it will not be the one which will be penalised in the future!

Hi hcgroup, I completely agree with you on this one. If you're not penalised by Google now, you might be later on in the near future for buying any backlinks.

You need to test out the ad market, to see if you can make more money that you pay for ads. (Return On Investment) Just don't see ads as backlink building, 'cause once they are gone, so is the link juice.

you guys continue with the WHITE HAT approach that will get you to a point. but to really dominate you'll have to do some Kung Fu stuff OFF-PAGE because great content will only get you to a point and thats it really... had to say it because its the truth.

I disagree, SEO is not dead, but creating quality content is an overall part of good quality SEO.

I agree, SEO is not dead but have to care about quality of content and check stat of the linking site as suggested by mark through tools. site's TF, visitors, spam core etc and visitors of related countries.

The best Backlinks are the once that drive you traffic. I know that gambling business isn't easy-to-share on others blogs. However, I can say that you don't have to worry too much about getting backlinks... make your that your site is great on On-page SEO.

Links are important but... but from my experience, a good on-page is better.

Keep building different kinds of links.

The main thing is that you get your ball rolling every work-day. Then don't stop until you have to.

About SEO, we need to follow the guidelines that Panda and Penguin updates suggests us. You can create backlinks but keeping in mind few things to which site you are taking backlinks have good stat, real traffic on it etc.

Improve the quality of content of your website and write specifically according to your services you are providing.

I doubt the website is getting decent traffic with three months of birth attached to it.

Gambling keywords that will result in a deposit take up to one year just to start seeing respect from Google.

You have to put in the hours of collecting the best sites to advertise gambling on.

"Every little thing's gonna be alright."

The main thing is that you are working for a good cause. That is a good part of you motivation to put in the hours.

The reason why so many SEO companies are now failing is because there isn't a right way to do things anymore. Before you could just write some old tut, throw backlinks and viola you would rank top 10.

Now its way more complex and from 2,000 pages I have analyzed there is no longer a pattern, Good content + Backlinks doesn't always mean top rankings, there is much more that goes into it now and if you don't know then you should spend time learning what it is.

As long as you provide good value for the readers, you will do ok. But if you want to climb on top, you do need good backlinks. Just check at the DR from other, and you will se how much a DR 40 can do for you. The problem in iGaming is that most sites have they own PBN and buying links is not so easy, from relevant sites at lease. But if you are little creative you can do good. A few days ago i got a .EDU link, from a DR 60 university for free, all I needed was a good story =)

One friendly advice is that it seems that you site is attacked with spamy links from egamingonline.com, so check it out and disavow in search console.

To add to @wonderpunter's post. Here is a decent overview of all the "public" made ranking factors that go into the equation.
    backlinko(.)com/ google-ranking-factors

While I do agree that high quality content is needed it (to increase CRs) will only bring you so far. You will have a hard time ranking in the the top positions solely relying on white-hat methods and "great" content.
