How can Congress redeem itself? Regulate online gambling

For us living in the States, the last month or so has been dominated by debt ceiling discussions. A crisis has been adverted, for now at least, but the whole incident has managed to make everyone in government look ridiculous, Republicans and Democrats included.

The Daily Beast has outlined 10 ways Congress can redeem itself, and coming in at no. 7 is an idea we hold dear to our hearts: Legalize and regulate Internet gambling.

    7. Legalize and regulate Internet gambling. This is an idea with some bipartisan support. Backers say it could bring in $42 billion over 10 years. Right now only other countries are benefiting.

Sounds like the perfect solution, regulate online gambling and help the economy at the same time. They are certainly trying their best to avoid doing this though lol

Sometimes common sense and government decisions don't go hand in hand. One thing you can trust all governments to still have in the future.. is taxes - and I hate them!

Congressmen would rather have the world come to an end, then deal with the political battles of such a bill.

Gambling revenues, even if the US took 100% of all gambling revenue would be like spitting in the ocean.. The US goverment is so over leveraged it doesnt really matter anymore, were F'ed for a long time.

what the hell is a trillion anyway. think about it, a trillion. there are some smart people here, if you got a trillion $100 Bills, not one dollar, but one hundred dollar bills, how many time would that go around the world.

and how sad is it anyway, you borrow so much money, there is not a name for the amount so you have to invent one.

I think they were hanging out for the rapture a few months back, but when it didn't happen - they realised they had to get their ass into gear.
