    Default How many backlinks?

    Hello!

I'm new to SEO, just wondering how many backlinks a website needs to start ranking in google. Yeah, I know that it all depends on how big competition is, how big the keyword is, the quality of backlinks etc. Let's say you have 20 backlinks from domains with avg domain authority like 20-30. Is it enough to start getting traffic from google? I would appreciate if shared your experience.

    Thanks!

You literally just answered your question lol. I had certain pages getting a decent position in search with only a couple of links. Needless to say, that was long tail keywords with low competition, but still. If you want to get a fuller answer, experiment yourself, mate.

    Like poker, "it depends".

Some terms you can rank with 0 backlinks. Others you will need hundreds, or thousands even.

The general advice is to go longtail first and try to prove your worth to Big G. Then expand from there if you find success.

also note that not all backlinks are equal. you can have tons of links that might tank your site, or you might have 3 amazing links that will sky rocket you (well, depending on the keyword difficulty of course).

In my experience no neee to have a lot of backlinks, important is how organized is your website, how good is your content with details included for everything.

It's important to note that you constantly need fresh links. You can't just build 30 links and then forget about it. That's why people go around and buy sponsored blogposts, because they have to in order to stay relevant in the eyes of Google.

Mate, i don't know your website but i guess its quite new, right?
I donīt know how many contents do you have online?
I guess you don`t have a significant amount of traffic?

If you run a pretty young site with just 30 or 40 or 50 standard pages without any real traffic you seriously shouldn't buy backlinks.
#1 it is super unnatural that a fresh site without traffic is getting backlinks (pls keep in mind any kind of link building is against "the rules")
#2 if i read your questions I assume you have no idea what a good backlink is and which you should avoid

If you start too early with building links and choose the wrong, you can ruin your site quickly.
And how Dan said already if you consider starting building links you NEED to do it constantly.
If you start you have to stick with it on regular base.

Back to your question: if you search google site:www.domainwithmylink.com/myarticle and you get a result, Google knows your link, which not means Google will count the link. They can ignore it or use it against you.

How quickly Google will indexing the article with your link depends on the domain (trust, content update frequency, backlink profile and stuff like that).

I used to ask always how much it takes for this and that but there are guidelines which you canít ignore if you want to survive and have a good reputation
Give it time and just learn how to build a great user experience
It is crucial to understand the needs of visitors, itís like a real Bussiness where you can get visitors but in the end they will just think it was a usual store without anything impressing

Does it mean when there are several links from one website? As far as I know, it is better to have links from different sites.

Yes but itís not like before where you can just find websites and get backlinks.
Now relevant content websites are a must, do make sure those backlinks will not turn against your website.
Other members have given you already the necessary advices.

It depends on the keyword difficulty. But overall, quality beats quantity. So just focusing on acquiring a few good backlinks plus producing quality content, you will be ranked well.

you need both quality, junk, and quantity... it's the only thing that looks natural... a good page will always have some sleazebag trying to negative SEO iti, or bots positng on usless pages.. a page with a handful of JUST good high quality backlinks looks as shady as 50000 spammy links

    Hey,
ultimately it is not only about backlinks. Even if you start ranking well for some particular keywords, If you have a high bounce rate and a short stay on page, your ranking is gonna start decreasing rapidly. Always think about content and user experience. Backlinks is not enough on it own

Focus more on the contents of your websites and the important key factors which are keywords, metadata, SEO etc. As for backlinks, you need to have just a small number of good, effective and valuable ones.

Use some online services and find your competitors and examine their backlinks. Moreover, the quality of backlinks is more important.

    1. Start with relevant content (you cant have enough good content)
    2. Take care about your onpage SEO incl. technical SEO (pagespeed etc)
    3. Take a look at your competators (links, content etc.)
    4. Start building links, but not to fast/aggressive. Take your time and take care of a "natural" building process
