Question How many computers do you use in your gaming affiliate business?

It is possible to run an affiliate business using just a couple computers. If a site worked on by a single individual webmaster, then there could be just one computer used by that webmaster to create and update the site. And the site could be hosted on a single computer, and perhaps a shared computer if the webmaster uses a hosting company using a shared server hosting package.

But many affiliates use serveral different computers, many sites are worked on by more than one person, and websites can use multiple servers.

So for this week's poll question I thought it would be interesting to ask how many computers are used on a day-to-day basis to keep the sites in your affiliate business up and running? Be sure to share the details behind the numbers in a post. It will be interesting to see how many computers different folks use, and how they fit together to create a work environment. Details like operating systems, software used, and other details might make for interesting discussions too.

So for Casino City the answer is definitely more than 50 computers.

Personally, I use a desktop system in the office and a laptop at home and when I'm traveling, so that's the first two. But I'm not exactly the only employee here, so adding one computer per employee gets the number up to around 40 computers before we even start talk about the web hosting environment.

The hosting environment includes production and test database servers, several each of production and test web servers, mail handling servers, a batch update processing server, a couple banner advertising servers, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

In terms of environment, our desktops and servers run various versions of Windows. We use SQL server for most of our database needs except where we use MySQL because of third-party software requirements.

Just 2 for me, the laptop is the main beast and the desktop pc on occasion. Sometimes I use both at once during page/site design so I can just refresh the screen rather than bounce between windows.

I use a Mac Pro, and then have an imac I use on the side to run some movies or Windows SEO programs. With a laptop makes a total of 3.

I might have voted too soon.

Were we supposed to count the servers too?

I personally use only a laptop at home, which is also my office. I use a remote dedicated hosting where also the daily backups are done. I have no idea how many people and computers they use for the service.

I checked off Four ,That is just my home office though .I didn't count the computers my employees use remotely though ,if we did it would be another 7.

We also have three servers didn't count them either hahaha .I can never get used to using a laptop for a full day of work , i prefer my desktop anytime with 22 inch screen.

Just one MacBook Pro for me, not including the servers etc for hosting.

    I'm just a simple person...

Well having read Michael's OP and that he included web hosts I voted 4, mainly because I am in niches other than gambling and try and use a different hosting company for each niche. And a different domain host again. Then everything client (as in computer client) side is done on my desktop (Quad core AMD something or the other with Windows XP)

Hosting wise I think there is a mix of CentOS (a variety of Red Hat/Fedora Linux) and FreeBSD. All so far shared hosting with CPanel etc. These are all Wordpress/WordpressMU or Joomla installs.

If you don't include web hosting I just use my one desktop computer. And if I got nitty enough to include the computers my domain names are hosted on you can add two to the total. But that is getting silly I think!

I voted 16 to 20, but that is excluding web servers or we would have been 51+

I counted up the pcs our webmasters use as well as assuming 1 pc for each contractor we regularly use.

I use one desktop and one laptop. And since I'm leaving tuesday for two months on the road I guess I'll have to take both. Does that make me a dedicated employee?

I've grown so use to my laptop, I find using a desktop difficult now. As far as hosting, that would add four servers from different parts of the world since I have other sites besides gambling.

I use a single laptop for my websites. Is true that I'm at the stage of hobby with this. I was wondering who is the person that vote 52 or more
