Smile How many Do You Promote

Hi Guys

Just wondering if its a good idea to heavily promote 3-5 casinos on a portal, or is it better to have 15-20 casinos spread throughout.

I would think that it will be best to promote a handful and see how they convert. If their conversions aren't great, then remove them and replace with newer casinos.

On the other hand, promoting 15+ different casinos might not be to bad either as you give your visitors loads of choice.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks

When I started I promoted about 15 different casinos. Now, I have picked the best 4, and am promoting them exclusively.

There's so much information to track, that promoting the best 4 for me is probably my best approach.

Also, the commission structure for my promoted casinos offers more when you have more revenue. That's something to consider as well.

Hi Wagerx

You are so right. Its a nightmare trying to track for all different programs.

Although, promoting a number of casinos that fall under the same aff program/group is not a bad idea.

The worst part is that some aff managers are rather pushy and want the best spot for their casinos on your site. So, even though you didn't really intend promoting them from the outset, I find myself obliged to add them..
I know that its really silly of me, but Im a nice guy Not sure if anyone else feels this way...lol

BTW : I really like your sites. Very nice!

I am at the stage where I am still promoting quite a few, but I agree with WagerX that tracking the promotions on these is very time consuming so probably I will trim these in the coming months to the best performers, and the best relationships that I have.

When starting out it is very daunting and everybody wants to befriend you. I get a lot of requests from unknown brands to promote them. Some of them can be quite vocal when I politely turn them down..

There are some huge sites out there, run by companies with a large number of staff. These have been around for a while and rank very well in the search engines. They tend to cover up to several hundred casinos on their sites and fulfil the role of giving an overview of the market to potential players.

Small portal operators can't possibly compete with those sites, but we are able to give a more personal touch with possibly more in-depth, player-orientated reviews of a small number of casinos.

As always, think like a player, and give your visitors the kind of experience you'd like to find yourself. If you can seriously only track 10 casinos at the quality level you'd like, don't promote any more. As time goes on, you can weed out the under-performing casinos and replace them with new ones.

And for affiliate managers wanting 'pole position', ask them what they're prepared to offer in exchange. Why push them on page 1 when they're offering you the same as every other affiliate out there?

I like to rotate my 'featured' casinos on the home page as it gives visitors something to come back for. I'll push new properties and specific new bonuses and promotions. If my managers have nothing new to promote, I don't put them on page 1.

Very well put Andy. I think you covered it nicely.Thank you!

I tried to do exactly what u mention... To give visitors an in depth review but on how I found them to be.

If you look at my reviews on the left panel ( www.playcasino.co.za) , each one has advantages and disadvantages of playing at the casino. Whilst the site is intended to promote the casinos which will be ultimately beneficial to the both parties (the casino and myself) in terms of revenue, we will however give a subjective opinion in our reviews which will breed trust between our visitors and the site.

I did however get an e-mail from one of the casinos aff manager who was not happy with the review we wrote about them. I won't be getting a nice deal from him in the near future..

Eventually, he was able to agree with me that a few aspects of their operation were not up to standard and they are looking into it.

I think that's great! You probably won't send much traffic to that particular casino, but because of your honesty, players are much more likely to trust your opinions of the other casinos.

And if the casino is now addressing the problems you raised, that's doubly beneficial.

i think the issue is to push as much as you can towards 2-3 operators and in each you can promote all of them...so you can promote 20 casinos but from 3 operators. gives you more leveraging
