Question How many gambling webmasters do you know?

For most of us, it's important to be able to learn from others and share our thoughts. That's what brings many of us here.

But it's also great to know other webmasters in person and not just online. So I thought it would be interesting to ask how many gaming site webmasters we know in person.

If you are a regular conference junkie, it might be quite a few. But I suspect for many members that have not been to conferences (and I believe that is the the majority of GPWA members), there might be none, or just a few.

I have voted for 6 to 10, but I may know a few more, all through the conferences.

    Cool

I don't know any that I've met in person but there are 3 that I've spoken with on the phone and through SKYPE.

There are another handful that I exchange emails and network with.

Being in London Canada and holding down a fulltime job along with running my site (no employees), writing articles and playing poker, it's impossible for me to attend the conferences.

Some day I hope to have the time though.

I voted 6 to 10 as I've enjoyed getting to know several webmasters that I've met at past conferences.

I have yet to go to a conference although I would love to attend one just to see what it is like and maybe more inspiration from some of the more experiences ones....

...but I would say that I feel I do know quite a few gambling webmasters who I talk with on almost a daily basis now, either phone, skype or MSN. I think after quite a few months of swapping ideas, sharing our opinons over something new we are trying or just chatting for the sake of chatting to someone instead of writing you do get to know someone a fair bit. I have met only a handful taht I would say I dislike and most of those who I have spoke to are some of the most intelligent, well rounded people I have met.

Because you specifally said in person I voted ZERO.

But I'm pleased to see in the comments that internet marketting people think that they know people better as the result of extended forum, online chat or or email contact ... as opposed to a brief conference face to face meeting.

I would say that I "know" around a dozen webmasters well that I've never met in person. None of them live in my country.

I've met hundreds if I cold everyone I've come into contact with. There are some I've sought out when I've traveled here or there. And there are bunches I've met at any of th 4 conferences I've attended.

But, I'd stil only say there are about a dozen or two I consider myself to 'know'.

I choose between 6-10 mostly met in person or over the phone. I love meeting new people either in person or by phone. MSN or Skype are just to risky for me to use.

    Hi all (Greek)

can you explain why MSN is risky? I use it a lot and don't want to compromise not just myself as i have little to hide ... but those who trust talking to me on it.

    appreciate the feedback my friend.

oh .... and though I've probably met 10 or so in person ... thru the years I have grown some great relationships with people i never met in person and these are people I trust and would and have sent thousands of dollars to ... for one reason or another ... and have many friends I'd not trust bringing me $100 from down the street.

I think the question needs perspective ..... all respect due. many of us don't travel and yet IMHO many of us have such trusting relationships with people we could pass on a sidewalk and never recognize.
Almost Here! How would you like to be able to get not just one sign up from your player, or even a couple, but every single casino they join from here on? I've a plan that can make that happen and it will likely also tell you every time the player is active within the casino.

    Hey BB,
Sorry BB I overlooked your question why I consider msn risky? My friend this has been well documented and you don’t have to go far to find out why. Try a search on Google, for phrases like msn hacks, defcon msn hacks, and Jargon msn hacks. Select the cache version only this should yield some good results.

Internet applications such as MSN, Skype, or even a simple webcam will always be a risky process. There are some basic rules to miminize this threat although not totally.

    1. Limit your time you spend
    2. Manually login (never use auto remember login)
    3. Good firewall (for msn I would suggest Zone-H configured properly)
    4. MSN should be turned off when not in use. To often people don’t realize MSN automatically logs in.
    5. Just don’t use it is probably your best bet, nothing wrong with a phone conversation.
    6. Unplug your Internet connection when your P.C is not in use.

The risks of using MSN far out way its usefulness. Malicious hackers or even the person your chatting with can severely screw with your P.C. The Google search should fully cover most of the threats out there.
I maybe overly cautious but I figure its better be safe than sorry. I don’t even use wireless networks.

I hope this helps perhaps others may offer some input.

    Thanks

This thread took me aback abit because I do feel I've actually "met" quite a few and have become friends. As far as "in the flesh" it would be my Joe and my wonderful friend stemat who lives about a half hour away and is a member here. Also matted came by for dinner with his wonderful family which was a true pleasure.

So it's three. But really I feel like I have many more friends. That may lead to another poll.

I've had the pleasure to meet a ton of affiliates at conferences over the past 4 years. It's always very exciting to put a face with a name, email and website.

I have to say that the people I have met in person and kept in touch with are quality people. A few who come to mind include Randy, Antoine, and Dave (engineer). If these guys represent the typical gambling webmaster, then we're in excellent company.

The only webmaster that I've actually seen in person since the vegas convention a couple years back, is a fellow Canadian, Antoine, with whom I've met for dinner and coffee once or twice. He's an outstanding guy.

Other than that, I have a couple daughters who now dabble in gambling websites.

There are so many I would like to meet. Hopefully I'll get to another conference sometime.
    Janet
