How many pets do you have?

Over the years many folks have posted here about their pets. Both in humor and in seriousness. Pets, and animals in general, are a big part of the lives of many of our members. Especially Pat (Giggles7p), whose loss we are mourning. And, this week, especially, I want to post a question I know she would have liked.

So, how may pets do you have? And, please, tell us about them. Make Pat smile. Share pictures, share stories. And tell us about animals in your neighborhood, be they tame or wild, that you like. No spiders though, Pat wouldn't like that.

I don't currently have any pets because I'm renting, but if I owned my own place I would definitely have a few cats.

My partner and I always say that when we get cats we are going to get 2 of them and call one Steven and the other Stephen. So now we don't call them cats, we call them Stevphens.

My parents currently have a cat. Well he is a kitten, only 6 months old, but he is HUGE. They first got him because the pet store told them it was a female. So the cat came home with no name for a long time. They just called it cat. Then finally they named the cat Portia. Not even 2 weeks later, one of my siblings noticed that the cat had nuts. After a big laugh my dad (who hates cats, but has grown to love this one) decided to call the cat Stavros. The others don't like the name so they started calling it Puss. So the cat has three names now. Portia by day, Stavros by night, and Puss whenever they feel like it.

The cat is awesome. He is black and huge. Bigger than a fully grown regular cat. Not sure what kind of cat he is but he just keeps getting bigger whenever I see him.

He plays fetch. He loves red things. So if you throw a red foam frisbee, he will go grab it in his mouth and bring it back to you so you can throw it again. When he is done, he will take it into his bedroom and CLOSE THE DOOR behind him.

If he hears my mum yelling at my brother to get ready for school in the morning, he goes into his room and closes the door. The cat is one of a kind.
People say cats dont have personalities but this one does.

He also loves diving into anything with a hole in it, regardless of if he can fit or not.
He especially loves playing hide and seek. He runs up the stairs and peers around to see if you're looking at him, and as soon as you look at him, he pulls his head back. Waits a few mins then does it again until you look at him.

He also LOVES going into the bath tub when there is no water in there.

The cat is nuts! But he is awesome.

    Anyway that's my little story.
I had many cats over the years, my favourite ran away when we moved because my sister let her out. She was named Fluff (which is the toned down word for fart here) because she used to fart and stink the place out. I cried for a long time when she left.

I got a kitten when I was about 19 and it got hit by a car who didnt even bother to stop. He was a beautiful cat. Black with blue eyes. Usually they have green eyes.. His name was Mase (like the rapper). He lived at my boyfriend's (at the time) house. His mum used to call him licorice because she thought my name was stupid. She was a stupid woman. Same one that killed my long neck turtle.

Anyhow hope you guys enjoyed my story

I have had cats ever since I was able to have my first apartment, about a dozen over the years of which three of them at present which are from 17 to 23 years old. All the others lived good long lives and I miss each of them as much as the other. Anyone who thinks cats don't have a personality is totally wrong as they have just as much personality as a dog and each one is different as we all are.
Rags looks like a bunch of different colored rags bundled together and is just a sweetheart. Always looking for attention but doesn't like being picked up much and my other female is called Kitty. Kitty simple has a beautiful face and being female as rags is doesn't much like the affectionate approach.
Marty(named after Marty Mcsorley the hockey player) is male and 23 years old. That doesn't happen often that a cat gets that old and he's still going but for how long. But being male as all male cats I have had is an affectionate guy and loves to snuggle up for half an hour or so at a time and rub noses. Yes, that one just loves to rub noses and presses it petty hard.
Wish I had pictures but at 63 years old have never owned a camera! WEIRD!!

Well I hope Pat liked my cats and I hope that Renee is able to get a kitty really soon. I'm sorry about the one that got run over as I also had a pet but a puppy that got run aver when I was a child. 51 years later I can still remember as if it were this morning that woman telling me as I cried my eyes out that she would find me another puppy. Never saw her again!

I currently have 6 - the legal limit. If i was able to have more I would! At one time I had 16 - i was nursing 8 of them as kittens. It was totally nutty with them all but it was so much fun watching them tear everything i owned to shreds. I also looked after my families cats. Been hard lately cause some of the older ones got ill and had to be put down - but at least i was there to comfort them along the way.

Right now my 6 cats are wonderful - they do all kinds of weird things like actually "MEOW on the phone" if you were to call me and I put you on speaker phone and you call one by name - she will wake up run to the phone and start meowing.

Others i have wake me up at the same time each day - by biting my feet. I have to wear 3 pairs of socks so the teeth do not penetrate my skin. LOL

5 females and 1 male cat!! The male cat i call "Jefe Che Guevara" - haha!!! he reminds me of Che! I have another one I call "The Buddha" - she is so spiritual and quite.

All they want to do is eat eat eat eat - and sometimes if i do not feed them on time they can actually open the fridge and start eating things like cucumbers, heads of lettuce, lick at the tomatoes - for some reason wont eat them.

One time Jefe ate my pizza loaded with hot pepper! Didn't bother him a bit.

One of my cats is so small she loves to cuddle - at night when you go to bed she will crawl under your shirt and sleep on your chest. She likes the breathing motion of humans and falls asleep in minutes!

I often like coming home and looking at them all curled up in balls together - like a big cat orgy LOL.

So much fun cats I tell you.

I always grew up with lots of animals - tons of dogs, cats, rabbits, other rodents, and even my grandfather owned a Monkey at one time.

Since i was 4 years old (as far back as i can recall) I was always looking for cats - their is a rumor I am the "pied piper for cats". They seem to follow me like in a trance - sigh!

Anyways i will show pictures later - gotta take some new ones. I certainly shared that in common with Pat!!

I loved your posts guys! They made me laugh - especially GFPC - that you have to wear socks to bed so they dont bite through your skin to wake you up

I would love a pet, but to honest I love to travel (and in this industry, we travel quite a bit) so it would be a bit selfish to get a pet right now.

I have a funny story about my sister and a dog she had once. One of those small ones that you could almost hold in your hand (do not ask me about the breed - I dont think even the dog knew what it was!). Well, this dog was NUTS!! My sister had a 2 year old little boy at the time, and he liked to stand on the sofa - like all kids do. This dog thought it was funny to run as fast as it could and jump from the floor with all 4 paws at Joshua (baby boy obviously ) to knock him down.

This was no easy task as this dog was quite small, but he managed to do it time and time again. Joshua thought it was hilarious and kept getting up again waiting for the dog to do it again. Me and my sister were rolling in laughter watching this dog backup each time to run and jump at the sofa and knock Joshua over.

Hopefully giggles would of liked that story too!

I've always had pets mainly cats but also dogs, rabits, hamsters, fish. I love all animals domestic and wild but are drawn to cats. The majority of my cat family has come from me taking in homeless cats or from a feral cat colony I took care of in Las Vegas. I love them all and they are my children. I recently had to put three of them to sleep in a very short span of time so I have gone from having 7 to 4 which was quite a shock to my system.

I now have Jaydee (over 20 lbs black & white), she looks like a miniture Jersey cow. She loves everybody and falls over then she attempts to sit or lay down and when I let her outside with me she wiggles when she walks - too funny.

Stomper (the runt of a litter is all black) and the last of my Vegas cats. I got him from the feral cat colony I took care of. He was just born and very sick. My husband at that time said he would divorce me if I took in one more cat. So I arranged to bring Stomper to the vet to have him put to sleep and my husband came with me. The vet cleaned-up Stomper's eye's so he could see for the first time and I was the first thing he saw with his big blue eyes. I kept my mouth shut in the vet's office because I knew what was coming if I opened my mouth. After a very long silence, my husband asked if it was going to live. The doctor said yes he just has a bad eye infection and he was ignored by the mother cat. I got to take Stomper home. We had to feed him with a baby bottle and clean his butt like a mother cat would do. From this day forward, I have been Stomper's mother - he is very territorial and owns the bedroom, the bed and me as far as he is concerned.

Mohawk (Mo for short looks like a Maine Coon Cat) came to my door in the winter time and sat looking in through the glass panels. I lived in the mountains so I have no idea where she came from. She wanted in, I let her in and she is now the Queen of the house (so she thinks). She is very vocal when she wants attention and it's all about her all the time. She is a toy-hog and gives eskimo kisses (smooshes her face into your face).

PawPaw (all black) was a cat living in my neighborhood who was mistreated. I ended up with PawPaw of course. It took him quite awhile to adjust but he is now so loving. His true personality has finally come out. He likes to eat dinner with me and sits at my feet waiting for his share. He doesn't really know how to play but once in a while he will grab ahold of the string as I'm playing with him but then he doesn't know what to do and just drops it. PawPaw set everyone straight (growling) when he came to live with us so all the other cats know where they stand and don't bother him.

My dream would be to buy a huge ranch and setup an animal rescue for every type of animal that needs to be there until the day they die. They would be fed, loved and played with!!

I've had a number of cats and fish over the years, although they have all moved on to new homes or gone to the Pet Grave yard etc.

After recently moving in with the missus, I am now in the process of getting a cat at some point. Unfortunately I have to keep this darn Lemon Tree alive for a number of months before I'm allowed the responsibility of a live animal. Do you have ANY IDEA how difficult it is to keep a Lemon tree alive in Ireland? In the WINTER!

@Affcoins: Great name for your pet!!

I've got a 3 year old jack russell terrier named Snoop. She's actually quite mellow for a jack russell and is such a happy dog she's never failed to put a smile on my face.

Here's a photo of her when we first got her when she was only 8 weeks. I posted it on another thread before and Giggles commented she really liked it so i'm posting it here again for her:

Here's when Snoop turned one. I know i know it's a bit much on the cake. But turning one IS a big thing lol:

And here's Snoop bonding with my son who was about 3 months old at the time. It's the best photo i've got of the two of them:

I've got numerous of pets, all of them are pretty annoying.

One day I will have the curage to end them all, but right now I seem to have too other important things to do.
Just yesterday one or two of them crawled up in my face, just to cuddle i guess, but I had to smack it down again.
I just can have them crawling in my face all the time.

I remember another story about my pests.. umm.. Sorry.. pets..

I came home one day and one of them was snooping around in my computer, what the heck!
Whipped it out and spit at it.

Another day I came home and saw this on my floor, what the f**k!
Go do this stuff at someone else's floor, not mine!

Nothing but bad stories about my pets..

Same annoying pic of my pets again..

    Zoorana!

WOW, the doggy is so cute, but your son, Oh My Gosh, that is one cute kid. Congrates on having those two in your life; awesome pictures, all three. I have one Dachshund, I love that little guy. I have always had dogs. I rescued all of them. Either Boxers or Dachshunds. My two favorite breeds.

Thank you Buddy M I'm quite lucky to have them both in my life.

My son's about 20 months now it's crazy how fast time has passed. Looking at that photo ohhh how I miss having him that small when he does nothing but sleep all day. Now he's constantly busy 'CLEANING' the flat.

One huge relief is that he and Snoop get along so well together. When i was expecting, i heard all those horrible stories about how bad or aggressive your dog could get with a newborn. They're all bollocks of course. Guess it depends on how you train your dog i guess. But still, it worried me at the time. I'm so glad she's cool with it and they have even started playing fetch together

You have to post some photos of your little guy! Dachshunds are soooo cute. If i were to get another dog, i'd get one of them sausage dogs for sure. Not so fond of Boxers though. They're too big and they scare me.

That cake picture is priceless.. just amazing..

I used to have a jack russel myself. he made it till 14,5 years. still miss him.

I'm a huge animal lover, and if I ever get rich I'm using it to help animals instead of humans.
I have 0 pets at the moment though, would love to have some, but I live in a city so that's why I don;t have any.

Would love to have cats, but I can't stand people having cats who never get to go outside, so.. will wait till I live somewhere in the country side.
