How much do you get a night?

Get your head OUT of the gutter!

    I'm not talking about that...

How much sleep do you get a night?
Since I got back from Barca I've been getting around 4 hours max per night, if that, and today I feel like I could pass out wherever I am standing...

So how much sleep do you get per night? And if not much, are you generally a walking zombie like me lately?

    What's your usual bed time?

I'm a terrible sleeper. Wake up at the slightest sound. Up by 4am most days. Sleeping in is getting up between 5am and 6am. I get a maximum of 4 hours of good REM sleep a day.

    The bonus:
I get a ton of work done before my day officially starts. My creative juices are flowing best in the early morning hours.

Afternoons are my low energy periods. I try to do the grunt work then, nothing too taxing on the brain.

I usually try to lay down for a half hour nap in the early afternoon. Even if I don't sleep, I feel more rested afterward. Henry Ford was a napper as were a large number of successful entrepreneurs so I'm in good company.

Evenings are good for doing SEO, tweaking pages, answering emails, etc.

I try to stop working and relax for an hour or two before going to bed but that doesn't always happen. I usually find myself laying in bed thinking about my ongoing projects and often give up on the sleep after staring into the dark for an hour or more.....

I am also not talking about that because I don't think I would get anything if I tried ... (And I wouldn't also give anything either).

As for sleep, I go to bed around 1 am und get up around 6.30 - 7 am. But while I was younger, till I was about 60, I could sleep up to 10-11 hours during the weekend. During the week I never slept more than 6-7 hours and that used to be sufficient.

I get a 4 hours between 3 and 7 AM, then another 2 between 8 and 10AM. The total is 6. I have to wake up to get my son ready for school. I barely feel it's enough.

Most of my creative energy is around 10PM, when I'm alone, and undisturbed.

From my experience people that sleep less than 6 hours are usually turbo-charged.

Id say turbocharged for a certain amount of time, but after 2 weeks it takes its toll, and i finally got lots of sleep last night.. well 8 hours anyway... I think I could have slept for days.

My problem is that once I'm that tired, nothing will wake me, so I often have my dad knocking on my door in the morning asking me if I'm going to work today, to which I swear and then rush around like a chook without its head for 5 minutes before running out the door because my 3 alarms didn't wake me!

    Good question Renee.

I can easily stay up until 3 or 4am. I used to in the younger day but having to get up and go to work early, I had to make myself get some sleep. Now that I'm working at home, those night owl hours have taken over. The earliest I can go to bed now is 2am. I sleep until about 9. I love not having to leave the house to go to work for someone else.

I swear and then rush around like a chook without its head

Turbocharged people always fall apart sooner or later. I prefer being supercharged only for a short period of time. =)

hate to sound like an old "big mama" here and scare everybody but Sleep is important for your health
and since most of us are infront of a computer all day we need to take care of our health even better.

sleeping less then 6-7 hours on a perm basis can cause in the near future illnesses such as:
depression, heart disease, some memory loss and on some cases even psychiatric disorders.

    Party Pooper!! LOL
    J/k

There was a period of about a year and half or so that I was lucky to sleep 3 hours per night. My body hated the world.. 2 of my best friends passed away 2 days apart and I was a mess...My body wouldn't let me sleep before 4am, and would wake me up at 7am on the dot every single day. I'm sure that has broken my brain somehow but I rarely get 8 hours sleep these days..
There is always someone waking me up.

I'm a night owl, so getting up at 5.30am to get to work, not getting home until 6pm sux for me. Then *trying* to relax for a few hours before bed can sometimes be the worst thing for me because as it gets darker and later, even though I'm SOOOO tired, I feel like I could stay awake for days. My brain functions best at around 1am for anything whether work or whatever else I'm doing at the time. So I guess you could say I try to take advantage of that as much as I can... It just means I get to work and I'm falling asleep at the desk

I tend to get less than four hours, more often than not working on web pages or thinking about ideas for them till the early hours, often falling asleep at about 5 or 6 am , then i get woken up a few hours later .
I did not ! ask for this life it was forced upon me !! How ever i know when to hold up know when to fold up and i know when to walk away

I think it has to do with the fact the post was moved and a poll added within the last day...

    I didn't originally post a poll..

    So get voting people!

Too late for warning Decker! Very lucky if I get 4-5 hours of sleep per night. Not entirely sure how I manage to function, well sort of. Been thinking it maybe computer related. In August I took the whole month off minus a week. No P.C time for three weeks I found my sleep was longer and more refreshing.

Whether or not we tend to believe it, this is very stressful work IMO.
